Discovering Brocade SAN Switches using the Brocade FOS REST API

Brocade SAN switches are discovered using the Brocade FOS REST API. When a FOS REST API discovery of an IP address finds a storage entity, a Network Device node representing the Brocade switch is created. The creation or confirmation of the Network Device node triggers the appropriate storage discovery pattern. The storage discovery pattern continues the discovery of the switch entity using further REST API requests and models each switch as Network Devices and their related components.

Prerequisites

  • BMC Discovery v12.1 and higher.

Procedure

  1. Configure credentials type 'Brocade Fabric OS REST API' with a user account authorized to access Fabric OS through the FOS REST API.
  2. Scan the IP address of the Brocade SAN switch.
