Dell EMC XtremIO Storage Systems (REST)

EMC XtremIO Storage Systems are discovered by using the EMC XtremIO REST API. As part of routine discovery, when an EMC XtremIO system is encountered, BMC Discovery creates a Storage Device node representing the chassis and triggers the EMC XtremIO Storage Systems (REST) pattern. The pattern continues the discovery by using further REST API requests. The storage entities are then modeled in BMC Discovery.

Prerequisites

  • BMC Discovery v12.0 and later.
  • A user account with REST API Access.
  • Port 443 added to the list of HTTPS ports under Administration > Discovery Configuration.

Procedure

Initial setup

  1. Go to Manage > Credentials.
  2. Add new credentials of type — REST API with basic authentication.
  3. Provide the user account with REST API access.
  4. Add port 443.
  5. Click Apply.

Test credentials

To prevent discovery issues due to invalid credentials, it is recommended to test your credentials before running a scan:

  1. Go to Manage > Credentials.
  2. Click Action > Test.
  3. In the Test URL field, type https://<IP> or <HOSTNAME>:<PORT>/api/json/types/xms/1.
  4. Click Test

The default port value is 443.

If your test is successful, scan the IP Address of the host where the XMS management server is installed.
