Dell EMC PowerStore Storage Systems Discovered Information


This page details the storage information collected for each of the supported Dell EMC PowerStore Storage Systems discovered in your IT infrastructure via the Dell EMC PowerStore REST API.

Storage System Information

To access the collected information for Dell EMC PowerStore Storage systems:

  1. From the Home page, locate the Quick View section and click the Storage System icon to display the list of the discovered storage systems.
  2. In the Storage System list, double-click the Dell EMC PowerStore storage system you wish to access.

The table below lists the storage system information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.

Storage System Information

Description

Name

The name of the storage system.

Type

The type of the storage system.

Vendor

The vendor of this storage system vendor.

DNS Domain

The Domain Name System (DNS) of the storage system.

Model

The model of this storage system.

Serial Number

The unique serial number identifying the storage system.

Software Version

The version number of the software.

Contained Hardware

The name of the hardware container (node) for the storage system.

Total Capacity

The total capacity of the storage system in bytes.

Total Consumed Capacity

The space actually consumed in the storage system in bytes.

Percentage Consumed

The percentage of space actually consumed in the storage system.

Total Available Capacity

The total capacity not consumed in the storage system in bytes.

Total Subscribed Capacity

The total subscribed capacity in the storage system in bytes.

Percentage Subscribed

The percentage of subscribed capacity in the storage system.

Total Oversubscribed Capacity

Total space oversubscribed in the storage system.

Storage Device

Link to the storage device page. Refer to the Storage Devices Information section for details.

Storage Processors

A summary table showing the storage processors in the storage system. For each processor the following information is displayed:

  • Processor Identifier
  • Vendor
  • Model
  • Firmware
  • Number of FC Ports

To see the storage processor page, click the corresponding table row. Refer to the Storage Processors Information section for details.

Storage Volumes

The volumes for this storage system. This is also a link to the Storage Volumes page. 

Cluster/Groups

The name of the cluster/group related to the storage system.

NAS Server Information

To access the collected information for Dell EMC PowerStore NAS server:

  1. From the Home page, locate the Quick View section and click the Storage System icon to display the list of the discovered storage systems.
  2. In the Storage System list, double-click the Dell EMC PowerStore NAS Server you wish to access.

NAS server Information

Description

Name

The name of the NAS server.

Type

The type of the NAS server.

Client Access TypeThe access type used by the client to connect to and interact with the NAS server. For instance: NAS, CIFS, NFS.

Vendor

The vendor of this NAS server.

DNS Domain

The Domain Name System (DNS) of the storage system.

Serial NumberThe NAS server serial number.
VirtualIndicates whether or not the NAS server is virtual.
Total CapacityThe total capacity of the NAS server.
Total Consumed CapacityThe total space consumed in the NAS server.
Percentage ConsumedThe percentage of space consumed in the NAS server.
Total Available CapacityThe total capacity available for storage in the NAS server.
Total Oversubscribed CapacityThe total space oversubscribed in the NAS server.
Managed by Storage DeviceThe storage device managing the NAS server.
File SystemsThe name of the file system for this NAS server. This is also a link to the File Systems page.

Hardware Container Information

A Hardware Container in BMC Discovery is a node that regroups all the available information about the discovered hardware components for a storage system. 

To access the collected information for hardware containers click the Hardware Container link available from the Storage System page.

Hardware Container

Description

Name

The name of the hardware container.

Type

The type of the hardware container.

Model

The model name of the hardware container.

Serial Number

The hardware container serial number.

Hardware Vendor

The name of the hardware container manufacturer.

Disk Drives

The list of the disk drives that are grouped in the hardware container.

Storage System

For Main System Chassis type only — Link to the storage system(s) related to the hardware container.

Pattern

Link to the related pattern information.

Storage Devices Information

This section provides information about the Storage Devices. To access the collected information for storage devices, click the Storage Device link available in the Storage System page.

Storage Device

Description

Name

The name of the storage device.

Type

The type of the storage device.

Vendor

The storage device vendor.

DNS Domain

The Domain Name System (DNS) of the storage system.

Model

The model name of the storage device.

Serial Number

The storage device serial number.

Endpoint Used To Be Identified As

Link to the Host formerly discovered by the endpoint.

OS Class

The operating system class.

OS Type

The operating system type.

OS Version

The version of the operating system.

OS Vendor

The operating system vendor.

Storage System Group

The storage system group for this storage device.

Storage Systems

List of the storage systems related to this storage device. This is also a link to the Storage Systems page.

Discovery Access

The discovery access history for the storage device.

Storage Processors Information

This section provides information about the storage processors managing data transfer for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for storage processors:

  1. Select the Infrastructure option in the Explore menu, and then the Storage Systems in the Infrastructure Summary section.
  2. Select a storage system from the list.
  3. Click a Processor Identifier name in the Storage Processors section.

Storage Processor Information

Description

Processor Identifier

The processor identifier.

Vendor

The hardware vendor. For example, EMC Corporation.

Model

The model name.

Serial

The serial number of the processor.

Storage System

The name of the storage system. This is also a link to the Storage System page.

Front End FC Ports

List of the front-end FC Ports for this processor.  Refer to the Front End FC Port Information section for details.

Storage Volumes Information

This section provides information about the storage volumes for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for storage volumes:

  1. Select the Infrastructure option in the Explore menu, and then the Storage Systems in the Infrastructure Summary section.
  2. Select a storage system from the list.
  3. Click the Storage Volumes related link in the Storage Volumes section to display a list of the storage volumes associated to the storage system.
  4. Click a Storage Volume in the list.

Storage Volume Information

Description

Volume ID

The ID of the storage volume.

Name

The name of the storage volume.

Type

The type of the volume.

NAA ID

The Network Addressing Authority identifier of the volume.

Mapped

Indicates whether or not the storage volume is mapped.

Visible Capacity

The visible capacity of the storage volume in bytes.

Consumed From Pool

The capacity consumed from the storage pool related to the storage volume in bytes.

Consumable Capacity

The consumable capacity in the storage volume in bytes.

Block Size

The block size of the storage volume.

Number of Blocks

The number of blocks of the storage volume.

Consumable Blocks

The number of consumable blocks of the storage volume.

Storage System

The name of the storage system for this storage volume. This is also a link to the Storage Systems page.

Disk Drives Information

The total number of disk drives associated with a storage entity is displayed on the Storage System page.

Description

Name

The name of the disk drive.

Type

The type of the disk drive.

Size

The size of the disk drive in bytes.

Vendor

The name of the disk drive vendor.

Model

The model of the disk drive.

Serial Number

The serial number of the disk drive.

Hardware Container

The name of the hardware container for this disk drive. This is also a link to the Hardware Container page

File Systems Information

This section provides information about the file systems for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for file systems:

  1. Select the Infrastructure option in the Explore menu, and then the Storage Systems in the Infrastructure Summary section.
  2. Select a storage system from the list.
  3. Click the File Systems link in the File Systems section to display a list of the file systems associated to the storage system.
  4. Click a File System in the list.

Description

Filesystem Name

The name of the file system.

Kind

The file system kind.

Type

The file system type.

Size

The file system size.

Used

The space used on the file system.

Free

The space available on the file system in.

Storage System Groups Information

This section provides information about the storage system group for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for the storage system group, click the Storage System Group Link in the Storage Device page.

Description

Name

Name of the storage system group.

Type

The type of the storage system group.

UUID

The universally unique identifier of the storage system group.

Total Capacity

The total capacity of the storage system group.

Total Consumed Capacity

The total space consumed in the storage system group.

Storage Systems

The storage system(s) part of the storage system group. This is also a link to the Storage System page.

File Systems

The file system(s) related to the storage system group. This is also a link to the File Systems page.

Storage Device

The storage device(s) related to the storage system group. This is also a link to the Storage Devices page.

Total Available Capacity

The total capacity available for storage in the storage system group.

Number of Pools

The number of storage pool(s) related to the storage system group.

Number of Volumes

The number of storage volumes(s) related to the storage system group.

Number of Mapped Volumes

The number of mapped storage volumes(s) related to the storage system group.

Number of File Systems

The number of file system(s) related to the storage system group.

Guid

The Globally Unique Identifier for the storage system group.

Storage Pools Information

This section provides information about the storage pools for the selected storage system.

  1. To access the collected information for storage pools, click the Storage Pools link available in the Storage Device page.
  2. In the Storage Pools list, double-click the storage pool you wish to access.

Description

Pool ID

The internal identifier of this storage pool.

Type

The type of this storage pool.

Name

The name of this storage pool.

Capacity

The usable capacity of this storage pool.

Consumed Capacity

The space actually consumed in this storage pool in bytes.

Percentage Consumed

The percentage of space consumed in this storage pool

Available Capacity

The total capacity not consumed in this storage system in bytes.

Oversubscribed Capacity

The total space oversubscribed in this storage pool.

Storage System Group

The name of the storage system group(s) for this storage pool. This is also a link to the Storage System Groups page.

Front End FC Ports Information

This section provides information about the front-end fiber channel ports transmitting data for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for Frond End Fibre Channel Ports:

  1. Select the Infrastructure option in the Explore menu, and then the Storage Systems in the Infrastructure Summary section.
  2. Select a storage system from the list.
  3. Click a Processor Identifier name in the Storage Processors section.
  4. Click a Port Name in the Front End FC Ports section.

The table below lists the Front End FC Ports Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery Console.

Front End FC Port Information

Description

Port Name

The name of the front end FC port.

WWPN

The World Wide Port Name — Unique serial number of the front end FC port.

Role

The role of the FC port.

Type

The front end FC port type.

State

The front end FC port state.

Speed (Gb/s)

The front end FC port speed (in Gbit/s).

Storage Processor

The storage processor for this port. This is also a link to the Storage Processor page.
