Dell EMC PowerScale and Dell EMC Isilon Storage Systems (OneFS API - REST)

Dell EMC Isilon storage systems are discovered using the OneFS API. When a REST API discovery of an IP address finds a storage entity, a Storage Device node representing the Isilon cluster is created. The creation or confirmation of the Storage Device node triggers the appropriate storage discovery pattern. Once discovered, the storage entities are modeled in BMC Discovery.

Supported platforms

  • S-Series, X- Series, NL-Series.
  • Dell EMC Isilon OneFS operating system version 6.5, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 8.x., 9.x. 

Prerequisites

  • BMC Discovery v12.0 and higher
  • An Isilon/PowerScale user account with a AuditAdmin role (read-only privileges)
  • Port 8080 added to the list of HTTPS ports under “Administration → Discovery Configuration.

Initial setup for OneFS

  1. Go to “Manage → Credentials”,

  2. Add new credentials of type “Dell EMC PowerScale REST API”
  3. Provide the user account with REST API access
  4. Add port 8080 
  5. Click Apply.

Test credentials

To prevent discovery issues due to invalid credentials, it is recommended to test your credentials before running a scan:

  1. Go to “Manage → Credentials”
  2. Click the "Action → Test" menu next to the credentials entry
  3. In the Test URL field, type https://<IP> or <HOSTNAME>:<PORT>/platform/3/cluster/config. Port is 8080 by default
  4. Click Test. 

If your test is successful, scan the IP Address of the Dell EMC Isilon storage system.
