Dell EMC ECS Storage Systems are discovered using the Dell EMC ECS REST API. When a Dell EMC ECS REST API discovery of an IP address finds a storage entity, a Storage Device node representing the ECS node is created. The creation or confirmation of the Storage Device node triggers the Dell EMC ECS Storage Systems (REST) pattern. The storage discovery pattern continues the discovery of the storage entity using further Dell EMC ECS REST API requests to discover the associated storage components. Once discovered, the storage entities are modeled in BMC Discovery.

Prerequisites

• BMC Discovery v12.0 or later
• ECS user account with REST API Access
• Firewall configuration to enable port 4443

Procedure

1. Create “EMC ECS Web API” credentials in BMC Discovery by providing the ECS user account with REST API access.
2. Directly scan the IP Address of the ECS nodes.
