Brocade SAN Switches (SANnav)

Brocade SAN switches are discovered by using SSH and SANnav REST API. The appropriate storage pattern is triggered on each host running the dockerd process and the Brocade SANnav Management Portal Software Instance. The storage discovery pattern continues the discovery of the switch entity by using further REST API requests and models each switch as Network Devices and their related components.

Prerequisites

  1. BMC Discovery version 12.0 and later.
  2. Configure an SSH user account to access the host by using one of the following options:
    • Root privileges (sudo), allowing BMC Discovery to identify the containers where the SANnav Management Portal is running.
    • Directly on the host or inside a container; for more details, seeDiscovering containers in the BMC Helix Discovery official documentation.
  3. Configure credentials type SANnav REST API with the user account that has access to the SANnav Management Portal. To test your credentials before running a scan:
    1. Go to Manage > Credentials.
    2. Select Action > Test.
    3. In the Test URL field, type https://<IP> or <HOSTNAME>:<PORT>/external-api/v1/inventory/switches/. Port is 443 by default.
    4. Click Test.
  4. Scan the IP address of the host where the SANnav Management Portal Software Instance is running. All the configured switches and FC ports will be discovered and associated with the Software Instance.

Supported platforms
