In the Spotlight October 2011

In TKU October 2011 we added a new pattern to model IBM-Network-Installation-Management. IBM Network Installation Management allows you to manage the installation of the Base Operating System and optional software on one or more AIX machines.

The product consists of a master server that communicates with various clients. A Management relationship is created between the server and its various clients. This Management relationship is created in BMC Discovery 8.3 and later only. Earlier versions of BMC Discovery do not have this management relationship

In certain circumstances creating a large number of relationships between clients and their server can adversely impact performance. The pattern therefore gives the user the option to disable the linking between masters and clients

The product allows an alternative master server to take over from the master server should the latter become disabled. A Peer to Peer relationship is created between the server and the alternative server.

If the alternative master server takes over from the master server, the client links will automatically be transferred to the alternative master server.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
