In the Spotlight October 2009

In TKU October we augmented our extensive coverage of Microsoft and IBM products. Furthermore, we focused on re-modeling our Licensing model for Symantec-VERITAS-Storage-Foundation products.

This month, we are showcasing our results in this Licensing effort.

Symantec VERITAS Storage Foundation licensing

Before this major upgrade, all the Storage Foundation related products – like Storage Foundation itself, Volume Manager and File System – would display the Licensing Data as additional attributes in the Software Instance. This approach wasn't ideal for various reasons. First of all, it populated the Software Instance page with too many attributes. And, most relevantly, it wouldn't allow to correctly show the relationships between Licenses, especially when components like Volume Manager and File System were bundled in the same license as Storage Foundation.
