In the Spotlight February 2013
In TKU February 2013 we have added a number of new patterns. One of these new pattern modules is for AirWatch Mobile Device Management.
The AirWatch product, commonly referred to as Mobile Device Management, consists of a number of solutions in addition to MDM including Mobile Application Management and Mobile Email Management. The pattern module also models BMC Mobile Device Management, an OEM product based on AirWatch Mobile Device Management.
The product potentially consists of three components, for each of which a SoftwareInstance node is created by Atrium Discovery:
- Admin Console Server
- Device Services Server
- Cloud Messaging Server
although the last two may be combined into a single Device Services Server SoftwareInstance if the Cloud Messaging Server is not in a cluster.

The patterns support WMI query, package, registry and path versioning.

The patterns will determine whether it is BMC Mobile Device Management installed rather than AirWatch Mobile Device Management by looking at the package name:

or something present within the path:

The Device Services Server pattern also attempts to create a client-server communication link with an instance of Microsoft SQL Server hosting the AirWatch database:

The pattern module also creates simple identities for many of the product's running processes:
