In the Spotlight August 2009

In TKU August we focused our efforts on extending our coverage for IBM and Microsoft products. We also extended our Licensing support for VMware vSphere 4.

The products that we are showcasing this month are: IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment, Microsoft-PerformancePoint-Server, and VMware vSphere 4.

IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment

Originally, we simply recognized Network Deployment as an Edition of IBM WebSphere Application Server. With the latest TKU, we can now understand the infrastructure of Network Deployment, and map relationships among Cells, Nodes, and Servers.

This ScreenShot displays the interdependencies of Network Deployment across 2 hosts. A Deployment Manager is managing the Cell, which, in turn, spans across 2 Nodes, each in its own host. Each node is managed by a Node Agent. Finally, each Node contains one or more Servers.

Microsoft PerformancePoint Server

Our new Microsoft PerformancePoint Server pattern recognizes the PerformancePoint Server, the Monitoring Server and the Planning Server, and relates them both among each other, and to remote Microsoft-SQL-Server Databases and Microsoft-Windows-SharePoint-Services.

This ScreenShot displays a SoftwareInstance of Microsoft PerformancePoint Server, containing the Monitoring Server and Planning Server. Each of these subcomponents is communicating with the same instance of Microsoft SQL Server. Furthermore, the Monitoring Server is communicating with as instance of Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. All these SoftwareInstances are residing on the same host.

VMware vSphere 4

Our latest enhancement to the VMware ESX Server pattern allows for Licensing Details to be retrieved for VMware vSphere 4.
