Discovery Condition Windows XP KB936235

Summary

Without Service Pack 3 or later or hotfix KB936235 installed, Windows XP reports incomplete details of a machine's CPUs through Windows Management Interface (WMI). This means that Foundation cannot provide complete CPU information for affected Hosts.

In particular, the number of logical cores and threads in hyper threaded processors is not reported.

Resolutions

Administrators can resolve this issue by:

  • Installing Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later
  • Or, installing the separate hotfix KB936235

Subsequent scans of a Host will then report complete CPU attributes.
