Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2022-Aug-2

BMC Discovery Technology Knowledge Update 2022-Aug-2 delivers BMC Discovery 12.0, 20.08, 21.05, 21.3, 22.1, and 22.2 series.

TKU August-2 release updates

In TKU August 2022 we introduced new issues that require immediate fixes.

Consequently, we have re-released the TKU 2022 August Release (the new release is "TKU-Aug-2" or "TKU-2022-08-2") to address the following defects:

  • After upgrading to the TKU 2022 August Release 1, the edit or creation of credentials fails (DRDC1-19606).
  • AWS Cloud: Attempting to view the Administration > Cloud Providers > AWS page, results in a 'Technical difficulties' page (DRDC1-19607).

For those who have already installed TKU 2022 Aug-1, we strongly recommend upgrading to TKU 2022 Aug-2. The TKU August-1 release has been removed from EPD.

Important Note for GCP IAP scanning (12.4) Customers Only:

Upgrade to the 12.4.0.1 version

We strongly recommend upgrading to the 12.4.0.1 version to get the benefit of changes that have been made in the TKU release. Version upgrade will also prevent possible problem scanning projects where an OS Login is enabled.

Network Device hardware components

Possible CMDB Sync impact due to new network device hardware components

The sync mapping may take longer after applying TKU July 2022 for network devices as we are now discovering hardware components synced as BMC_HardwareSystemComponents CIs.

Important Note for Discovery 22.1 (12.3) Customers Only:

TLS Certificate check

BMC Discovery and the BMC Discovery Outpost check the TLS certificate against GCP. If the certificate is not valid, you can clear the check box to disable the TLS certificate check. In such a case, please be aware that your credentials could be intercepted by a hacker attack.

Release highlights

In this release we are delivering:

Cloud:

Storage:

  • Hitachi E-Series is now discovered. For details see (DRDC1-18629 ) and the documentation here.
  • Brocade SAN Switches are now discovered via SANnav. For details see (DRDC1-18891) and the documentation here.
  • HyperFlex Storage System model has been enhanced. The Key is now changed. Updated also HyperFlex Storage System Group modeling. For details, see (DRDC1-19370).

Patterns:

  • Added support for vSphere Tags on ESXi hosts. For details, see (DRDC1-19319) and VMware-vSphere-Tags.
  • New attributes have been added for Namespace, Software Pod, Software Container, Master/Worker SI, and Host nodes. For details see (DRDC1-19328) and Kubernetes page.

Latest Releases Updates

  • From TKU December we now report security information for hardware where it is published in the US Government National Vulnerability Database.
This is in addition to reporting NVD information for Software Instances, Operating Systems and Network Devices.
  • We have introduced a new sync mapping pattern that maps Detail nodes with the type "TLS Certificate" to BMC_Document CIs. This mapping is enabled by default and could add additional data to the CMDB. For more information, see CDM Mapping for Host.
