Product content TKU 2024-Dec-1

Technology-Knowledge-Update-TKU-2024-Dec-1 contains additional product content for the 22.1, 22.2, 23.1, 23.3, 24.1, 24.2, and 24.3 versions of BMC Discovery.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. The appliance is restarted when product content is added to the update. You can prevent the restart, but none of the knowledge content will be installed if you do so.

The following features and enhancements are introduced within the scope of this release: 

  • CMDB SYNC: Added an ability to optionally modify the CTI (category, type, item) values. By default, the CTI values remain "Unknown". HEADS-UP: In TKU April 2025, we will change the default CTI values. For more details, see the documentation here

  • STORAGE: HEADS-UP: The "Allocated Capacity" attribute of Storage System nodes will be deprecated in TKU April 2025. Added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute in the Dell EMC PowerMax and Dell EMC SC Series patterns. It is identical to the "Allocated Capacity" attribute. Also, added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute to the IBM FlashSystem pattern. For more details, see (DRDC1-22592).
  • CLOUD/AWS: Introduced the following improvements:

    • Added linking between Detail and LoadBalancerService (the documentationhere and DRDC1-24835).

    • Added linking between LoadBalancerMember and Host (DRDC1-24801).
    • Updated Amazon certificate search (DRDC1-24883).
  • CLOUD/AZURE: Added an ability to detect OS info on the autoscaling VMs created for the Scale Set. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24172).
  • CLOUD/AZURE: Added the cloud attribute to the Microsoft Azure Log Analytics Workspace and Microsoft Azure Recovery Services patterns. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24940).
  • CLOUD/GCP: Improved GCP discovery to prevent using proxy_ssl_context, which will eliminate scan errors. For more details, see (DRDC1-24913).
  • CLOUD/GCP: Improved GCP Kubernetes discovery to prevent duplicated clusters for GCP and Kubernetes API scan. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-25030).
  • CLOUD/GCP: Improved troubleshooting for the discovery of a service not containing any resources. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-23407).

  • CMDB SYNC: Added linking between cluster and software instance for the Microsoft Azure SQL Virtual Cluster. For more details, see the documentationhere and (DRDC1-24194). 

  • CMDB SYNC: Enhanced the os_type attribute for the Kubernetes Host scanned through REST API. For more details, see (DRDC1-25022).
  • CMDB SYNC: Removed inconsistent Host-Namespace relationships. For more details, see (DRDC1-24761).
  • CMDB SYNC: Updated the Host_OperatingSystem pattern to report OSType as Windows for the Windows OS family. For more details, see (DRDC1-24544).
  • EOL: Added EOL info for Clusters and SoftwareCluster node kinds. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24182).
  • KUBERNETES: Improved Kubernetes node linkage by adding the __suppress_default_linkage attribute to the LoadBalancerMember and LoadBalancerService nodes. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24986).
  • NETWORK DEVICES: Added support for Redfish API scan for CIMC series management controllers. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24973).   
  • NETWORK DEVICES: Set REST API as the primary method of discovering Citrix NetScaler ADC and building the Load Balancer model; the combination of REST API and SNMP credentials for Citrix NetScaler ADC is no longer required. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-16833).
  • STORAGE: Added support for TrueNAS Core/Scale Storage Systems. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-23662).
  • STORAGE: Dell EMC Data Domain (REST): Updated the file system type from ddboost to mixed to establish the relationship between the remote file system (on the Host) and the exported file system (on the Storage system). For more details, see (DRDC1-24949).
  • STORAGE: Dell EMC PowerMax (REST): Added support for Unisphere v10 to discover the storage processor and FC port. For more details, see (DRDC1-24934). 
  • STORAGE: EMCUnisphere: Added the Dell EMC Unisphere for PowerMax package for versioning. For more details, see (DRDC1-24934).
  • STORAGE: NetApp StorageGRID: Updated the pattern to set the virtual attribute for the Storage Device and Storage System nodes if the StorageGRID is installed and running on the virtual platform. For more details, see (DRDC1-24950).  

Defects

The following defects are fixed within the scope of this release: 

  • CLOUD/GCP: Resolved an issue with incorrect host removal. For more details, see (DRDC1-25054).
  • CLOUD/OpenStack Nova: Resolved a trigger issue. For more details, see (DRDC1-25053).
  • CMDB SYNC: Resolved a cardinality issue related to the introduction of Nutanix REST API V3. For more details, see (DRDC1-24168).
  • LOAD BALANCERS: Resolved an issue related to the ip_addr value. For more details, see (DRDC1-24954).
  • STORAGE: NetApp: Resolved an issue with an ECA error message during the NetApp devices scan. For more details, see (DRDC1-25043).
  • STORAGE: Oracle ZFS: Resolved an issue with target identification. For more details, see (DRDC1-24777).

Changes to discovery commands

Discovery commands are unchanged in Product Content 2024-Dec-1.

Model changes
