Product content TKU 2024-Sep-1

Technology-Knowledge-Update-TKU-2024-Sep-1 contains additional product content for the 21.3, 22.1, 22.2, 23.1, 23.3, 24.1, and 24.2 versions of BMC Discovery.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. The appliance is restarted when product content is added to the update. You can prevent the restart, but none of the knowledge content will be installed if you do so.

CLOUD/GCP: Improved the GoogleCloudPlatform.ComputeEngine pattern to create links between OpenShift cluster hosts and related Google Cloud VMs. For more details, see (DRDC1-22678) and the documentation here.
CLOUD/KUBERNETES: Changed the Kubernetes cluster node type to the unified one, Kubernetes Cluster, for the following Cloud scans (for more details, see (DRDC1-23403):
CLOUD/KUBERNETES: NOTE: The following features will be available only for BMC Discovery version 24.3 and later. Added support for the Kubernetes automatic scan through the following scans (for more details, see the documentation here):
- AWS cloud scan (DRUD1-43562).
- Azure cloud scan (DRDC1-23828).
- GCP cloud scan (DRDC1-23833).
- IBM Cloud APIs (DRDC1-22366).
- OCI cloud scan (DRUD1-43562).
CLOUD/OPENSTACK: Added RAM and CPU information to OpenStack Nova VMs. For more details, see (DRDC1-23986) and the documentation here.
CLOUD/OPENSTACK: Updated the OpenStack pattern to set all_tenants to True when scanning OpenStack Nova and OpenStack Octavia. For more details, see (DRDC1-20288) and the documentation here.
CMDB SYNC: Added an ability to optionally modify the CTI (category, type, item) values. By default, the CTI values remain "Unknown". HEADS-UP: In 4 or 6 months, we will change the default CTI values. For more details, see (DRDC1-23486) and the documentation here

CMDB SYNC: Introduced multiple improvements to Kubernetes (for more details, see (DRDC1-23311):
- HEADS-UP: The major version of the CMDB.Namespace_AdminDomain.Namespace_AdminDomain pattern is changed.
- HEADS-UP: CMDB.Namespace_Deployment_ConcreteCollection.Namespace_Deployment_ConcreteCollection is replaced with the CMDB.Pod_Deployment_ConcreteCollection.Pod_Deployment_ConcreteCollection pattern.
NETWORK DEVICES: Added an OS classifier for Imperva SecureSphere. For more details, see (DRDC1-24283).
STORAGE: The "Allocated Capacity" attribute of Storage System nodes will be deprecated in 4 or 6 months. Added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute in the Dell EMC PowerMax and Dell EMC SC Series patterns. It is identical to the "Allocated Capacity" attribute. Also, added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute to the IBM FlashSystem pattern. For more details, see (DRDC1-22592).

Defects

The following defects are fixed within the scope of this release:

CLOUD/AWS: Fixed an issue with missing Amazon AWS S3 instances after upgrading from Discovery 21.3 to 24.x. For more details, see (DRDC1-24295) and the documentation here.
CLOUD/AZURE: Fixed an issue with a missing CloudResource node for Microsoft Azure Data Factory. For more details, see (DRDC1-24290).

Changes to discovery commands

Discovery commands are unchanged in Product Content 2024-Sep-1.
