Technology-Knowledge-Update-TKU-2023-Jul-1 contains additional product content for the BMC Discovery 12.0, 20.08, 21.05, 21.3, 22.1, 22.2, and 23.1 series.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. The appliance is restarted when product content is added to the update. You can prevent the restart, but none of the knowledge content will be installed if you do so.

Feature updates

The following features and enhancements are introduced within the scope of this release:

CLOUD/AWS: Added the "Spain" region. For more details, see (DRDC1-21405).
CLOUD/AZURE: Modeled Azure Firewall as a NetworkService node, which enables synchronization with CMDB and usage in ITSM modules. For more details, see (DRDC1-20214) and documentation here.
CLOUD/OPENSTACK: Added the Zun container service support for OpenStack. For more details, see (DRDC1-20139) and documentation here.
CONTAINERS: Added an ability to identify containerized discovered processes. For more details, see (DRUD1-41151).
HOST: Added AIX 7.3 to the OS Classifier. For more details, see (DRDC1-21477).
HOST: Added an ability to differentiate between CentOS Linux 8 and CentOS Stream 8 for EOL purposes. For more details, see (DRDC1-20738).
HOST: Added full support for the discovery of the Tanzu Kubernetes cluster. For more details, see (DRDC1-21314) and the documentation here.
HOST: Added support for the ZscalerOS host discovery. For more details, see (DRDC1-21360).
HOST: Added a RAM attribute for IBM Power Systems that run on a Linux OS. For more details, see (DRUD1-30902).
NETWORK DEVICES: Added a boot_time attribute for the NetworkDevices, Printers, SNMPManagedDevices, StorageDevices, ManagementControllers discovered via SNMP. For more details, see (DRDC1-15178).
STORAGE: Created a new credential type and REST API heuristics for Netapp StorageGRID. For more details, see (DRDC1-21205) and the documentation here.
VAULT: Added an ability to set up a Windows discovery user through Just Enough Administration (JEA). For more details, see (DRUD1-40667).

Defects

The following defects were fixed within the scope of this release:

VAULT: Fixed a certificate issue with CyberArk REST API. For more details, see (DRUD1-38100, DRUD1-41468, DRUD1-41490) and documentation here.
VAULT: Fixed an issue with the missing Data Source Type attribute due to the updated Data Source. For more details, see (DRUD1-41694).

Discovery commands are unchanged in Product Content 2023-July-1.

Model changes

Taxonomy has been updated for:

CLOUD/AZURE: Taxonomy has been updated due to the modeled Azure Firewall as a NetworkService node, which enables synchronization with CMDB and usage in ITSM modules. For more details, see (DRDC1-20214) and documentation here.
CONTAINERS: Taxonomy has been updated due to the ability to identify containerized discovered processes. For more details, see (DRUD1-41151).
HOST: Taxonomy has been updated to support a new role attribute for the Host node. For more details, see (DRDC1-21314) and the documentation here.
NETWORK DEVICES: Taxonomy has been updated to support a new boot_time attribute for the NetworkDevice, Printer, SNMPManagedDevice, StorageDevice, ManagementController nodes. For more details, see (DRDC1-15178).
PACKAGES: Taxonomy has been updated due to defining the packages attribute as a list of DiscoveryCORBA.Package objects. For more details, see (DRUD1-40105).
