Managing licenses
- View licensing information as asset licensing or resource unit licensing.
- Enable cloud discovery and determine the number of licensable cloud resources discovered (asset licensing).
- Determine the number of licensable hosts (asset licensing) or resource units (resource unit licensing) that have been discovered.
- See whether Sync for ServiceNow CMDB status is enabled.
- See whether a Storage TKU is installed, and if so, which version.
The system queries the datastore once each day to extract data and construct graphs of license usage. Each graph provides a More Detail button which shows the queries, but will also show a breakdown of the counts on the graphs. You can also:
- Download a signed license report.
- Download raw license data as CSV (zip of CSV files) to process and report on license usage according to your company practices.
- Download raw license data (zip of encrypted files) to upload it to another BMC Discovery appliance. The raw license data option is only suitable for uploading to another appliance. It is not usable for analysis in, for example, a spreadsheet.
- Upload the raw license data (zip of encrypted files) so you can choose a single consolidated appliance from which to perform your own licensing audit across all appliance license data.
- Run license data analysis. You can run this before downloading licensing reports to make sure that the licensing data is completely up to date.
- Set the current license page (resource unit or asset-based) for your BMC Discovery system.
