Analyzing costs by cost pool

A cost pool is a dynamic aggregation of resources that are associated with a specific user, cost center, or department in your organization. The resources can be provisioned in the public cloud and the on-premises infrastructure. You can use a cost pool to monitor and analyze the cost, usage, and budget of the resources.

Use the Cost Pools page to get a quick summary of the costs per cost pool and to understand and analyze the cost details of a specific cost pool. You can quickly get the information about the potential savings that you can achieve for a cost pool.

You can drill down into a cost pool to view further details. You can also analyze and manage the budget of a cost pool.

From the Cost Pools page, you can achieve the following goals:

  • Analyze the cost of a cost pool.
    • Identify and analyze cost pools with high costs.
    • Determine the potential savings that you can achieve for a cost pool by applying the resource usage recommendations.
    • View and compare the monthly costs of all the cost pools.
    • View the daily and monthly costs of a cost pool by cloud service provider.
    • View the breakup of the monthly cost of a cost pool by cloud service category.
    • View and compare the monthly costs of all resources that a cost pool uses.
    • View a detailed bill (bill line items) for every resource in the cost pool.
  • Simulate the migration of all the resources in a cost pool to the public clouds.
  • Manage the budget of a cost pool.
