Drill down into a cloud service for details
In the Monthly Cost by Cloud Service table, click the cloud service name for the service that you want to investigate and view details for.
The Cloud Service Details page opens that shows the following cost details for the selected cloud service:Projected Cost
Average monthly cost of the cloud service. The average cost calculation considers the computed and projected cost, depending on the current date of the month.
Projected Yearly Cost
Forecasted yearly cost for the cloud service. The year is based on the selected month. For example, if you select Current month, then the selected year is the current year.
Number of Instances
Number of active or running instances of resources that are assigned to the cloud service.
Normalized Compute Hours
Approximate number of hours of compute time used by the instances that are assigned to the cloud service.
This metric is displayed only for compute-related services.
For more information about normalized compute hours, see Normalized-compute-hours-overview.
Monthly Costs
A chart that displays the cost breakup for the selected cloud service for the past 11 months and future 6 months, based on the selected month.
- To know details of the resources that are assigned to the selected cloud service and to identify the ones with higher costs, click the Resources tab. The Monthly Cost by Resource table displays details for the resources.
Review the following column values in the Resources page:
Column
Description
Resource
Name of the resource. To drill down into detailed cost analysis of a resource, click the name. The Resource details page opens that provides a quick cost summary and bill line-item details for the resource.
Total Cost [$]
Total cost of the resource that the cloud service uses over the selected month.
Normalized Compute Hours
Approximate number of hours of compute time used by the instances that are assigned to the cloud service.
This metric is displayed only for compute-related services.
For more information about normalized compute hours, see Normalized-compute-hours-overview.
Resource Type
Type of the resource. For example, EBS volume, Tax, Load balancer.
Instance Type
A specification that defines the resources (CPU, memory, and storage) for an instance. For example. m1.small, m1.large.
Region
Region where the resource is located. Region value is not populated for a cloud service that uses the on-premises infrastructure systems.
Account Name
Name of the account that is associated with the account identifier.
Account Identifier
A unique identifier assigned to the account that owns the resource. This identifier is assigned by the cloud provider.
In case of AWS and Google Cloud Platform, it is the 12-digit account ID. For Azure, it is the subscription ID.
- To investigate further into a resource, click the resource name.
The Resource details page opens that shows cost and other details for the selected resource such as the average monthly cost, provider, and region. The tags associated with the resource are also displayed. The page also displays a chart. For the resource type Tax, the Monthly Cost by Operation chart is displayed, which is a pie chart that describes the monthly cost of the resource for the different operations for which the resource is used. For all other resource types, the Daily Costs chart is displayed, which is a stacked area graph that enables you to compare the daily usage costs based on operations performed on the resource. To view and analyze the bill line-item details for the resource, click the Bill Details tab. The Bill Details page is displayed that provides a line-by-line detailed bill of the costs associated with the selected resource:- Name of the selected resource
