OpenStack view 24.2

The OpenStack view provides an overview of availability zones, host aggregates, hypervisors, and tenant capacity in terms of CPU, memory, and datastore utilization for each entity. It is based on cloud database structures and enables you to:

  • Track the capacity of each OpenStack entity in the cloud environment
  • Identify bottlenecks
  • Discover underutilized resources
  • Track resources that are, or will soon be, experiencing capacity shortfalls

Prerequisites

Ensure that the administrator has completed the following tasks:

For information about views in the TrueSight console, see Accessing and using capacity views in the TrueSight console.

To access the OpenStack view, in the TrueSight console navigation pane, select https://docs.bmc.com/docs/capacityoptimization/btco2002/files/914175366/1168621015/1/1493903446465/Menu_big.png > Capacity > Views > Cloud > OpenStack.

Certified data sources

The certified data sources for these views are as follows:

You must configure and run one of these ETL modules to import data into the view.

If you are importing data from an ETL module other than the certified data source, then ensure that you have all the metrics populated in the ETL module so that the view shows the data.

Settings for the OpenStack view

You can use the Settings page to configure the settings for all pages in the Openstack view. To access this page, on the OpenStack view page, select https://docs.bmc.com/docs/capacityoptimization/btco2002/files/914178335/914178336/1/1561617894720/Settings+icons.png  > Edit Settings.

Maps Settings

  • CPU Utilization %: Modify the required values for displaying the threshold values for the CPU utilization in the Maps page:

    • In the Low Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from 0 to value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of blue color.
    • In the Good Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from the value in the Low Threshold box to the value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of green color.
    • In the Warn Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from the value in the Good Threshold box to the value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of yellow color.
The entities with capacity above the value in the Warn Threshold box are displayed in the shades of red color.

  • Memory Utilization %:  Modify the required values for displaying the threshold values for the memory utilization in the Maps page:

Other Settings

  • Show tenants with Instances: Specify whether you want to view all tenants or only tenants with instances in the Tenants page. This option is selected by default.

Data views

Displays the details when the view was last refreshed. Click Refresh views to refresh all OpenStack views. After you click this button, all OpenStack views are scheduled for materialization.

The option to Refresh views is available only if your user role has permissions to edit the view. For more details about permissions, see Adding and managing roles.

The Optimizer Thresholds link opens the Thresholds page in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console that enables you to view and manage the metric and indicator thresholds. For more details, see Configuring and managing thresholds for metrics and indicators .

Prerequisites

Ensure that the administrator has completed the following tasks:

For information about views, see Accessing and using capacity views in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard.

Certified data sources

The certified data sources for these views are as follows:

You must configure and run one of these ETL modules to import data into the view.

If you are importing data from an ETL module other than the certified data source, then ensure that you have all the metrics populated in the ETL module so that the view shows the data.

Certain metrics are required for these views. If the metrics are not imported into the database, then corresponding columns are blank. Particularly for Data Explorer view for this platform, you must import specific metrics for some of the charts to be available.

Data visibility

The views display data for all systems of the following types:

  • Hadoop Clusters
  • Hadoop Nodes
  • Hadoop HDFS Resource Manager
  • Hadoop YARN Resource Manager
  • Hadoop Resource Pool

Using the view

To access the view, in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard navigation pane, select Capacity Views > Hadoop > Hadoop Views.
