Adding logo and branding to reports

A report in BMC Helix Continuous Optimization contains one or more charts, tables of metrics, and descriptions for multiple entities for a selected period. For details, see Creating-reports. 

As an administrator, define the default look of reports generated by using analyses and models or report templates by including the logo and branding of your company. For example, you can configure the report to incorporate colors based on the color scheme used by your organization.

This global customization saves the time required for capacity planners to customize each report manually and create a consistent user experience.

Scenario

Paul is a capacity planner in Apex Global company that uses BMC Helix Continuous Optimization to manage its infrastructure capacity. He creates and sends out capacity management reports to the internal and external stakeholders. He wants to include his company logo and branding details such as the cover page, header, and footer in all reports at a time to avoid customizing each report manually. 

He requests Alan, an administrator, to rebrand all reports by using the Skin customization settings in BMC Helix Continuous Optimization. 

Before you begin

Make sure that you have the required permissions to edit the Skin settings. For more information, see Users-and-authorization-profiles. 


To customize the appearance of a report 

  1. Click the Administration tab.
  2. In the navigation panel, select System > Skin.
    The Skin Customization page is displayed.

  3. Define the default look of reports by customizing the following properties:

    Setting

    Description

    Title

    Select the color to be used for the cover page header text and all titles in the report; for example, Table of contents and analysis names. 

    Header text

    Specify the cover page header text. 

    Footer text

    Specify the footer text. 

    Cover page image

    Company logo

    Footer background image

    Upload the images that are stored locally according to the following specifications:

    • Only jpg, png, gif, and jpeg images are allowed in this field. If you leave this field blank, the default BMC Helix logo will appear on your reports.
    • When uploading images, the best sizing for the cover page image is 122 x 166 pixels, and for the company logo is 166 x 71 pixels.
  4. Save the settings.
    To reset the skin customization settings to their default values, click Reset To Default, and then click Save.

The default look applies to all existing basic reports after their next run and to new reports that you generate.
