24.4 enhancements and patches
BMC applies upgrades as described in the BMC Helix Upgrade policy. BMC applies upgrades and patches during Maintenance windows..
24.4.01
Improved performance of the data migration ETLs
The data migration from TrueSight Capacity Optimization includes the following updates:
- Ability to set the concurrent database threads to improve the migration ETL performance resulting in faster data migration.
- Data migration ETLs are enhanced to migrate all configuration metrics at once to avoid querying these metrics again in subsequent batches, making the overall process efficient.
For details about these updates, see Running-the-migration-tool.
After migration, if data for some of the configuration metrics is missing, use the import.conf.metrics property to reimport these metrics.
For details, see Troubleshooting-issues-with-the-migration-of-configuration-metrics.
Monitor the progress of data migration
Review the CSV file created for each data migration ETL to monitor the progress of data migration (in percentage) for every entity.
For details, see Running-the-migration-tool.
Create custom dashboards for recommendations by using out-of-the-box data marts
Use the out-of-the-box data marts in a custom dashboard of BMC Helix Dashboards to view the recommendations data provided in BMC Helix Continuous Optimization.
For details, see Out-of-the-box-data-marts-for-recommendations.
View the Azure subscription information
The Microsoft Azure - Azure API Extractor and Azure Virtual Machines view include the following subscription details:
- SUBSCRIPTION_ID and SUBSCRIPTION_NAME metrics in the extractor.
- Subscription ID and Subscription Name details in the Virtual Machines and Idle Virtual Machines pages.
You can also filter the VMs by Subscription Name and ID.
Support for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
The Continuous Optimization Agents support the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS operating system.
For a complete list of supported operating systems and their versions, see System-requirements-for-the-Continuous-Optimization-Agent.
Enhanced Nutanix - Prism API Extractor
The Nutanix - Prism API Extractor is enhanced to import the MEM_REAL_UTIL and MEM_REAL_USED metrics.
For details, see Entities-lookup-information-metrics-and-API-calls-for-Nutanix-Prism-API-Extractor.
Support for the Athena JDBC driver
Configure the Athena JDBC driver in external database connections to connect to the Amazon Athena database. Use this connection while configuring the Generic - Database extractor (Java) and Generic - Columnar Database extractor (Java) ETLs to collect data from the Athena database.
For details, see the following topics:
Enhanced Storage All-in-One ETL
The Storage All-in-One ETL includes the following updates:
- Support to import additional metrics for Dell EMC Isilon (REST) Storage Shares.
- Support for NAS servers as Storage Filers for Dell EMC Unity (REST).
- Support to import the BYDISK_UTIL metric for Dell EMC PowerMax v4 (REST) storage systems.
- Improved discovery and collection of metrics for Hitachi GUM (REST)
- The sentry.system.filter property to filter systems that are attached to the same endpoint to which your storage systems are attached.
For details, see Storage-All-in-One-Extractor-Service.
24.4
The following video (1:46) provides a high-level summary of the new features and enhancements in version 24.4 of BMC Helix Continuous Optimization.
Support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP6
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP6 is supported for the Remote ETL Engine and Continuous Optimization Agents. For a complete list of supported operating systems and their versions, see the following topics:
Display data in the Quick analysis based on the specified timezone
Select a preferred timezone and check data in the Quick analysis based on the selected timezone instead of the globally set timezone. Setting this preference helps you to view data according to your requirements.
For details, see Setting-user-preferences.
Filter data by domains in the BMC Helix Continuous Optimization dashboards
Configure the domain filter in a variable so that users can use it to filter the dashboard data by specific domains at runtime. They can also share the filtered dashboard report with relevant stakeholders based on their domain preferences.
For details, see Using-BMC-Helix-Dashboards.
Display the threshold based on a metric in BMC Helix Dashboards
In BMC Helix Dashboards, configure the threshold based on the metric series in the BMC Time Series Forecast visualization plug-in so that you can visualize and analyze how the forecast metric behaves relative to threshold metrics.
For details, see Visualizing-the-predictive-time-series-data-of-BMC-Helix-Continuous-Optimization.
Manage the capacity of Nutanix resources with out-of-the-box dashboards
Use Nutanix dashboards to get visibility into your monitored Nutanix environment. These dashboards contain the key capacity metrics and charts for Nutanix components. Use this information for capacity analysis and identify capacity-specific risks and issues.
For details, see Nutanix dashboards.
Manage the capacity of OpenStack resources with out-of-the-box dashboards
Use OpenStack dashboards to analyze and manage the capacity of OpenStack resources in your infrastructure. This dashboard contains the key capacity metrics and charts for OpenStack availability zones, host aggregates, hypervisors, and tenants.
For details, see OpenStack dashboards.
Enhanced Kubernetes view
The Kubernetes view displays the following details:
- The maximum number of pods in the Capacity tab of the Clusters page.
- The number of pods in the Overallocated Containers and Forecasted Saturation tabs of the Recommendations page.
For details, see the following topics:
