Using the Quick analysis tool

Use the Quick analysis tool to rapidly inspect time series on both systems and business drivers of a specific domain or domain group. Identifying problems or periods of interest that can be isolated for more detailed examination can be useful.

To access the quick analysis tool, perform one of the following actions:

  • Click Quick analysis on the detail page of a domain, system, or business driver.
  • Click Add series series icon new.pngnext to a resource metric displayed in the Metrics tab of the detail page for a system or business driver.

The following video (2:59) illustrates the process of adding and managing time series by using the quick analysis tool.

Information

This video describes the functionality of TrueSight Capacity Optimization, but it is valid for BMC Helix Continuous Optimization too.

To add metric series or formula to a quick analysis

Depending on how you access the quick analysis tool, there might be no metric series to analyze initially. To add one or more series to a quick analysis, perform these steps:

  1. Click Add series.
  2. Locate the required metric series, specifying the following parameters:
    • Domain: Select the desired domain.
    • System/ Business driver: Select the system or business driver to be inspected.
    • Metric/ Formula: Select the required metric or formula. For details on using formulas in an analysis, see Using-a-custom-formula-in-an-analysis.
    • Subresource: If the metric is an aggregate, select the subresource; otherwise, the default value is used (for example, GLOBAL). You can also select subresources for the custom formula.
    • Location: If none is present, the default value is used (for example, UNKNOWN).
  3. Click Add series.

The list of all added series is displayed at the top of the page. To add more time series, repeat the procedure or perform a search and click Add series series icon new.png next to a resource metric in the list of search results.

If data is available, a graph is automatically displayed. To change the resolution or the time filter for the analysis, use the time filter selector located at the top of the analysis chart. For details, see Interacting-with-charts-and-analysis-data.
