Configuring the Continuous Optimization Agents


You can configure the Continuous Optimization Agents that are installed in your environment. The configuration includes updating values of parameters in the AgentSilentInstall.txt file. 

To modify the Agent configuration parameters

  1. Log in to the system where the Continuous Optimization Agent is installed.
    • (Windows) Log in as a user with administrator privileges.
    • (UNIX and Linux) Log in as a root user.
  2. Navigate to the directory where the Continuous Optimization Agent is installed. The default installation path is as follows:
    • (Windows): C:\Program Files\BMC Sofware\Patrol3
    • (UNIX and Linux): /opt/bmc/Patrol3
  3. Open the AgentSilentInstall.txt file.
  4. Update values of the required parameters.
     
  5. Restart the Agent service:

    • (Windows) Restart the BGS_SDService service.
    • (UNIX and Linux
      1. Run this command to obtain the process IDs of the following agent services: bgscollect and bgsagent
        ps -ef | grep bgs
      2. Run this command to kill the services:
        kill (process ID of bgscollect, process ID of bgsagent)
      3. Run the b1config<version>.sh script to start the services. The default location of the script is /opt/bmc/Patrol3.

    The Agent is configured with the updated parameter values.

  6. (Optional) Repeat these steps to configure the Continuous Optimization Agents that are installed on other managed systems.
