UNIX system metrics
The following system-related metrics and metric groups are available for UNIX and Linux systems.
System Statistics
The System Statistics metric group contains a collection of metrics that reflect overall system performance parameters. The metrics are described in the table below.
System Statistics can show bad data points (such as a sudden large spike in data) when partitions are added or removed during a collection. In this case, in Analyze, use the CPU Statistics metrics group alternatively to the System Statistics metrics group.
System Configuration
The System Configuration metric group contains information about the system configuration for which the UNIX system collector is running. On x86 and Itanium systems, System Vendor, System Model, and Hardware Serial Number might contain generic strings, such as to be filled by O.E.M. The following table describes the System Configuration metric group.
Physical Partition Configuration
The Physical Partition Configuration metric group contains information about physical partitions for Solaris and HP-UX nPar andvPar, and AIX systems that are connected to HMC. It is enabled by default when installed on a Solaris system controller or control LDOM, HP-UX nPar and vPar, and AIX partitions that are configured to communication with the HMC. BMC provides the /usr/adm/best1_version/bgs/scripts/configure_openssh script to communicate with the HMC.
The following table describes the Physical Partition Configuration metric group.
IVM Configuration
The IVM Configuration metric group is populated with data collected from an HP Integrity Virtual Machines (IVM) host. The following table describes the HP IVM Configuration metric group.
IVM Statistics
The IVM Statitics metric group provides information about the memory usage, virtual machine details, and CPU usage of the HP IVM host. The following table describes the metrics available in the IVM Statisitcs metric group:
Hypervisor Statistics
The Hypervisor Statistics metric group for IBM AIX platforms provides detailed information on hypervisor calls. The following table describes the Hypervisor Statistics metric group for IBM AIX platforms.
Table Information
The metrics in the Table Information metric group are described in the following table.
System Call Statistics
The metrics in the System Call Statistics metric group are described in the following table. This metric group is not available for Linux systems.
TTY Device Statistics
The following table shows metrics for TTY Device Statistics metric group settings. This group is unavailable for Linux.
Metric group: TTY Device Statistics
MBuf Statistics
The MBuf Statistics metric group displays statistics that are recorded by the memory management routines, and includes the metrics in the following table. An MBuf is used mostly to store data in the kernel for incoming and outbound network traffic. This metric group is valid only for AIX versions 5.2 and later.
