Host page in the KVM Overview view


The Host page in the KVM Overview view provides an overview of the available hosts in the KVM virtualization environment, including details about CPU and memory utilization, logical processors, physical cores, unused resources.

To access this page, in the Views tab, select Views > Virtualization > KVM > Overview

Hosts table

The KVM Hosts table lists all KVM hosts in the selected domain.

  • By default, the metric tables in this view are filtered on all domains. Use the domain filter options to select the required domain from the table.
  • By default, the summarization time range for all metrics is set to Last 30 days. Use the time filter options controls to select an alternate range.

Each row corresponds to a domain and shows the following information: 


Export and filter the information that is displayed in tables. For example, you can show or hide columns, filter tables on particular domains, and so on.

Detailed information about the KVM Host 

To view the KVM Host details, click the name of the KVM Host in the Hosts table. The following details are displayed on the Host Details page:

  • General details: General host details, such as name, type, description, and the number of elements within it. 
  • Related Information: Contains the following links:
    • Thresholds: Clicking on this link takes you to the Metric thresholds page for the selected entity in the Workspace. This page lists the metric thresholds and enables you to edit or delete them or add new thresholds. With thresholds, you can monitor how the metric is behaving relative to a specified value. 
    • VM details: View and manage the VMs. For more details, see Virtual Machines.
    • Workload Profile: View the workload profile charts for the selected KVM Host. 
    • Command Profile: View the command profile charts for the selected KVM Host. 
    • User ProfileView the user profile charts for the selected KVM Host. 
  • Tags: Displays tags, if any, that are associated with the cluster. For more information, see Filtering-data-displayed-in-Views.
  • Cross Launch:
    • Open Dashboard: The Open Dashboard option allows you to view the device details in BMC Helix Dashboards
    • Show in Operations Management: The Show in Operations Management option allows you to view the device details and hierarchy in BMC Helix Operations Management.
  • The Summary tab displays bar charts for the selected cluster.

    Analysis charts: Core metrics for the selected entity are displayed as analysis charts, depending on the available data. The link at the bottom of each chart takes you to the Data Explorer view for the specific resource type, and displays charts and information for a larger set of metrics.

    To return to this page, click back_to_capacity_pools.pnglocated towards the top-right side in the Data Explorer tab.

    The data displayed in Data Explorer view charts for any resource part of this view category, is based on the time filter that is applied to the primary view in this tab. You can select Advanced time periods (other than default/basic) from the Data Explorer view for the selected resource, to view charts over a different time resolution.

  • Configuration Details: Displays the configuration metrics for the selected host.
  • File Systems: Displays the file systems details for the selected host.
