Working with the Maintenance Tool Logs tab


You can use the BMC Helix Continuous Optimization Maintenance Tool Logs tab to view installation and configuration log files, locate and view other log files, and zip log files to send to BMC Customer Support.

To view and zip log files

  1. Start BMC Helix Continuous Optimization Maintenance Tool.
     The application opens by default on the Logs tab. The following options are available:
    1. Install Log: View the installation log file.
    2. Uninstall Log: View the uninstall log file.
    3. Configuration Log: View the configuration log file.
    4. Browse to Log: Opens an in-built browser to locate log files.
    5. Zip Logs: Package all log files for support.
    6. Zip All Logs: Package log files for all registered BMC Software products that are installed on the computer where this tool is run.
  2. Click Install Log to view the installation log file.A window opens, presenting the details of the file. You can search, filter and save the log file.

    The following actions are available:

    1. Click one of the date tabs over the table to see events for the specified date.
    2. Click a column heading to sort the table according to that parameter.
    3. Select an item in the table to see details relative to the item appear in the area below the table.
    4. Use the log filter.png button to filter the details.
    5. Save the file under another name using the option from the File menu.
    6. To go back, click File > Exit or close the window.
  3. Similarly, you can access uninstallation or configuration logs using Uninstall Log or Configuration Log.
  4. Click Browse to Log to locate and view additional log files. Double-click the file to view the details.
  5. Click Zip Logs to package Gateway Server-related log files. After the process is complete, the location of the zipped files is displayed. By default the file is named bpaLogs.zip and is stored at %TEMP% on Windows or /var/tmp or /tmp on UNIX and Linux. Email or transfer this compressed file to a technical support person.
  6. Click Zip All Logs to package log files for all registered BMC Software products that are installed on the machine where this tool is run. After the process is complete, the location of the zipped files is displayed. By default the file is named AllLogs-<Full_Computer_Name>.zip and is stored at %TEMP% on Windows or /var/tmp or /tmp on UNIX and Linux. Email or transfer this compressed file to a technical support person.
