Troubleshooting the BMC TrueSight Operations Management ETLs

The BMC TrueSight Operations Management ETLs might fail due to incorrect configurations or other issues. Review the ETL logs to investigate and troubleshoot the issues.

BMC Helix Continuous Optimization supports the following ETLs:

  • BMC - TrueSight Operations Management 10.7/11.0/11.3 extractor
  • BMC - TrueSight Operations Management 10.7/11.0/11.3 Generic extractor

Resolutions for common issues

The following table explains the common issues for the ETL failure and their resolutions.

The ETL fails with the following error: BCO_ETL_FAIL102: Error in connecting and getting data from server.

In the ETL configuration, the specified format of the Data Integration API URL is incorrect. This API is used to connect to the TrueSight Presentation Server.

  1. On the TrueSight Operations Management Connection tab in the ETL configuration, confirm the format of the Data Integration API URL.
    The specified URL must be in the following format:
    https://<host>:<port>/tsws
  2. Update the URL format.
  3. Save the configuration changes, and run the ETL.

The ETL does not import all the servers from the Realm even when the current data (CPU Utilization) is displayed in TrueSight Operations Management or TrueSight Presentation Server.

The entity type of the missing devices is unsupported. The servers contain an unsupported entity type or the value is blank.

Use the Agent Query option in TrueSight Presentation Server to find the entity type.

Run the following commands:

  • Linux
    • For local monitoring:
      print(get("/UNIX_OS/UNIX_OS/EntityType"));
    • For remote monitoring:
      print(get("/UNIX_OS/UNIX_OS@<remote-host>/EntityType"));
  • Windows
    • For local monitoring:
      print(get("/NT_OS/NT_OS/EntityType"));
    • For remote monitoring:
      print(get("/NT_OS/NT_OS@<remote-host>/EntityType"));
