Checking the status of the product components

Use the Status page to check the status of the product components. In case of an error or warning, you can use this page to access the component logs to analyze the issue and take the necessary corrective action.

You can check the status of the following product components:

  • Remote Scheduler
  • ETL Engine
  • Gateway Server

To access the Status page, click Administration > System > Status

If there are no components installed, go to the Downloads page and install the required components. For details, see Downloading the product components.

The statement on top of the page indicates when the status was last checked. Each component box is color-coded to indicate its status. Review the color on each component to determine whether it is failed (Red), has a warning (Yellow), is running without any issues (Green), or is disabled (Grey).

Inspect a specific product component

  1. On the Status page, click the component that you want to inspect.
  2. Click Show log. Review and analyze the log details to troubleshoot the issue.

About schedulers

scheduler is a BMC Helix Capacity Optimization  service that manages the run of assigned tasks at predefined intervals. A task is an activity performed by a BMC Helix Capacity Optimization  component. Tasks can be run manually or scheduled for automatic run.

Most BMC Helix Capacity Optimization  activities are performed by tasks; for example, golden analysis run, enterprise reports, optimizer, data import, and so on. There are two basic categories of tasks: System tasks and ETL tasks, which are further divided into task types. Each task is associated with a scheduler process that manages its run and log recording.

A scheduler runs all the time. If it is interrupted, its task will not run.

When a task is created, it is possible to schedule it so that the scheduler will run it at the predefined intervals, and report its execution results and logs.

There can be more than one scheduler running at any time, each managing different tasks.

To administer a scheduler

To check the status of the Scheduler component, on the Status page, review the color of the Scheduler component box.

To rename or deactivate the component, click the component box and click the appropriate button.
