zLinux metrics

The following metric groups are available for zLinux systems.

VM Disk Configuration

The VM Disk Configuration metric group includes information about each disk that is configured for the VM partition. This metric group is available on RHEL 4.3 or higher, or SLES for IBM zSeries.

Virtual partition configuration is collected hourly. Changes in virtual partition configuration show up in Collect data within an hour of the change.

VM System Configuration

The VM System Configuration metric group contains information about the VM System configuration that is controlling the running Linux system. This metric group is available on RHEL 4.3 or higher, or SLES for IBM zSeries.

Virtual partition configuration is collected hourly. Changes in virtual partition configuration show up in Collect data within an hour of the change.

CPUset Statistics and Configuration metrics

Cpusets (csets) provide a mechanism for assigning a set of CPUs and Memory Nodes to a set of tasks. They constrain the CPU and Memory placement of tasks only to the resources within a task's current cpuset, and use the generic cgroup subsystem.

The following table describes the metrics used in CPUset Statistics and CPUset Configuration. These metrics are collected in Investigate for Gateway Server, and enable you to monitor specific CPU utilization by groups. In environments with demanding latency and throughput requirements, CPUsets assist in tweaking core servers for maximum performance.
