Cost Vs. Budget notification


The Cost vs. Budget notification enables you to schedule automatic notifications via emails when the cost of the resource pool reaches the specified percentage of the assigned budget.

Access the Cost Vs. Budget page

  1. On the Cloud Cost dashboard, click Configureconfigure_icon.png> Notifications
  2. From the Manage Notifications page, click Create Notification.
    The Select Notification Type page is displayed. 
  3. Select the Cost tab. The list of available notification types is displayed.

    Warning

    If you are licensed to use BMC Helix Cloud Security product, you can see the Security tab on this page. For information about the notifications for BMC Helix Cloud Security, see Managing notifications.

  4. From the list of notification types, select the Cost Vs. Budget notification. 
    The Cost Vs. Budget page is displayed.

Create the notification

  1. Enter a unique name for the report. This name is displayed as the subject of the email. 
  2. Select the resource pools or business services that you want to include in the report. 
    You can select up to ten resource pools at a time.
  3. Choose whether to receive notifications when the cost of the resource pool or business service reaches the specified percentage of the assigned budget.
  4. Enter the recipients of the report:
    • Self: The report is automatically sent to the account (email address) that you have used to log into the BMC Helix Cloud Cost console. 
    • Other: Enter email addresses of the recipients who should automatically receive the report each time it is generated. You can specify multiple email addresses separated by a comma.

Save the notification

A confirmation message about the notification creation is displayed and the newly created notification is displayed on the Manage Notifications page. 

View the report

When the cost of the resource pool reaches configured percentage, an email is sent to the specified email address. 

The sample email includes the following information:

  • The name of the resource pool that has exceeded the cost value for the current month.
  • Information such as actual cost ($), budget ($), projected cost ($), and the percentage of cost vs budget.
