Projected Cost Vs. Previous Month notification

The Projected Cost vs. Previous Month notification enables you to schedule automatic notifications via emails when the projected cost value for the current month is more than the specified percentages in comparison with the previous month cost.

Access the Projected Cost Vs. Previous Month page

1. On the Cloud Cost dashboard, select Configure  > Notifications. 
2. From the Manage Notifications page, click Create Notification.
   The Select Notification Type page is displayed.  

3. Select the Cost tab. The list of available notification types is displayed.

   Warning

   If you are licensed to use BMC Helix Cloud Security product, you can see the Security tab on this page. For information about the notifications for BMC Helix Cloud Security, see Managing notifications.

4. From the list of notifications, select the ProjectedCost Vs. Previous Month notification. 
   The Projected Cost Vs. Previous Month page is displayed. 

Create the notification

1. Enter a unique name for the report. This name is displayed in the subject of the email. 
2. Select the resource pools that you want to include in the report. 
   You can select up to ten resource pools at a time.
3. Choose to receive notifications when the projected cost value for the current month is more than the specified percentages (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) in comparison with the previous month. 
4. You can decide whether to send the notifications only for those resource pools or business services that have an assigned budget, or for all resource pools or business services in your environment. 
   
   • Notify only when budget is assigned - Select this option to send notifications if your resource pools or business services has a budget assigned. 
   • Notify irrespective of budget assigned or not - Select this option to send notifications irrespective of budget being assigned or not.
     This option allows you to receive notification even if you have not assigned any budget to the resource pools or business services and want to compare the projected cost of the current month with the cost of the previous month.
5. In email recipients, enter the recipients of the report:
   • Self: The report is automatically sent to the account (email address) that you have used to login to the BMC Helix Cloud Cost console. 
   • Other: Enter email addresses of the recipients who should automatically receive the report each time it is generated. You can specify multiple email addresses separated by a comma.

Save the notification

A confirmation message about the notification creation is displayed and the newly created notification is displayed on the Manage Notifications page. 

View the report

When the projected cost value reached the configured percentage, an email is sent to the specified email address. 

The sample email includes the following information:

• The name of the resource pool that has exceeded the projected cost value for the current month 
• Information such as actual cost ($), cost of the previous month ($), projected cost ($), and percentage of projected cost vs previous month cost
