Host page in the KVM Overview view


The Host page in the KVM Overview view provides an overview of the available hosts in the KVM virtualization environment, including details about CPU and memory utilization, logical processors, physical cores, unused resources and more.

To access this page, in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard, select Capacity > Views > Virtualization > KVM > Overview. By default, the Host page is displayed.

Viewing the Hosts table

The KVM Hosts table lists all KVM hosts in the selected domain.

  • By default, the metric tables in this view are filtered on all domains. Use the domain filter options to select the required domain from the table.
  • By default, the summarization time range for all metrics is set to Last 30 days. Use the time filter options controls to select an alternate range.

Viewing the KVM Overview Host details page

To view the KVM Overview Host details, click the name of the KVM Host in the Hosts table. The following details are displayed in the Host Details page:

  • General details: General host details, such as name, type, description and number of elements within it are displayed at the top of the page. 
  • Tags panel: Displays tags, if any, that are associated with the cluster.  For more information, see Working-with-tag-filters.
  • Related Information: The Related Information panel at the top of the page contains the following links:
    • Workload Profile: The Workload Profile page enables you to view the workload profile charts for the selected KVM Host. For more details, see Workload Profile.
    • Command Profile: The Command Profile page enables you to view the command profile charts for the selected KVM Host. For more details, see Command Profile.
    • User ProfileThe User Profile page enables you to view the user profile charts for the selected KVM Host. For more details, see User Profile.
    • Process Profile: The Process Profile page enables you to view the process profile table for the selected KVM Host. For more details, see Process Profile.
  • Summary information: The Summary tab, that is displayed by default, displays details for the selected cluster in a horizontal summary table, as well as charts.

    Analysis charts: Core metrics for the selected entity are displayed as analysis charts, depending on available data. At the bottom of each chart is a link that takes you to the Data Explorer view for the specific resource type, and displays charts and information for a larger set of metrics.

    To return to this page, click back_to_capacity_pools.pnglocated towards the top-right side in the Data Explorer tab.

    The data displayed in Data Explorer view charts for any resource part of this view category, is based on the time filter that is applied to the primary view in this tab. You can select Advanced time periods (other than default/basic) from the Data Explorer view for the selected resource, to view charts over a different time resolution.

  • Configuration Details: The Configuration Details tab displays the configuration metrics for the selected host.
  • File Systems: The File Systems tab displays the file systems details for the selected host.

Using data filter and other controls in tables

You can export and filter the information that is displayed in tables to suit your need. For instance, you can show or hide columns, filter tables on particular domains, and so on.
