Devices Overview page in the Network View
The Devices Overview page provides a number of capacity relevant KPIs summarizing the current usage of the network device resources in the last 30 days. The following figure shows an example of this page.
For each network device, the Devices Overview portlet presents the following information.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Device name | Name of the device |
Device type | The type of the CO entity |
Hardware Model | Model of the device |
Hardware Vendor | Vendor of the device |
Location | Location of the device |
Device Role | Role of the device, according to the assigned tags |
IF count | Number of total network interfaces |
IF busy | Number of busy network interfaces |
Worst IF AVG | Average Utilization of the worst interface |
Worst IF MAX | Max Utilization of the worst interface |
Worst IF Daily Peak AVG | Average on Daily Peaks of the worst interface |
Count IF with discards | Number of interfaces with discards |
Count IF with errors | Number of interfaces with errors |
CPU AVG | Average CPU utilization |
CPU MAX | Max CPU utilization |
MEM AVG | Average Memory Utilization |
MEM MAX | Max Memory Utilization |
Backplane AVG | Average Backplane Utilization |
Backplane MAX | Max Backplane Utilization |
The device name is an action link that bring you to the Device Detail subpage, presented in the next section. MAX statistic refers to the raw data granularity as imported from the data source, e.g. for 5 minutes data collection the MAX statistic represents the value of the busiest 5 minutes interval in the last 30 days.
To view details for a specific Device
To view the details page for a particular device, click its (hyper-linked) name under the Device column. You can use the sorting and filtering options on the page to find a specific device.
For more information, see Sorting tables in views in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard and Using filtering options in views in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard.
The Device details page displays information for the selected device under the following sections or panels:
Summary page | A quick graphical summary of the CPU, memory, and backplane memory utilization of the device. Core metrics for the selected entity are displayed as analysis charts, depending on available data. |
Configuration Details page | Configuration information about the device. |
How to manage Device Roles
The Configuration Details section of the details page enables the management of CO tags. Besides presenting the tags currently attached to the device, the section allows the user to assign a Device Role tag to a device, so that it can be used for filtering purposes as previously described.
In order to attach a Device Role tag to a device:
- Click on the three points beside Tags
- Choose Edit Tags
- Select the right tag
- Click on Apply
Figures below depict the process.
