Viewing guests on an existing virtual host
You can view the guests currently running on existing virtual hosts and see key performance statistics and utilization graphs for each guest.
To view the guests on an existing virtual host, click View Guests on the Targets page. The View Guests button is available when the Existing Virtual Hosts table is displaying only hosts.
The table on the Guests on Host page shows the guests currently running on the host server, along with some basic metrics for each guest. The graphs at the bottom of the page provide a snapshot of the guest resource utilization, by interval, for the specified time period you selected for the study. The legend at the bottom of the graph provides a color-coded list of each guest system. The graphs are generated for CPU Utilization, Memory Utilization, IO Rate, and Network Rate.
You can also specify how to handle the existing guests that are currently running on the virtual host, using the options in the Assignment Action column. When you first display the Guests on Hosts page, the action listed in this column is the same as the assignment action shown on the Use Existing Virtual Hosts table. You can change the assignment action for the individual guest by selecting one of the following options:
- Keep: Select this option if you want the guest to remain on this host server in the virtualization study.
- Move: Select this option if you want Virtual Planning to decide the best location for the guest in this study.
- Ignore: Select this option to remove the guest from the study.
