Creating a study to consolidate systems onto virtual hosts


This section discusses consolidating physical systems onto virtual hosts or relocating already existing guests or partitions to new hosts, which is called a Consolidation Study. Review the following questions before using the Virtual Planner to conduct the study:

  • How big a consolidation? Will you focus on the servers assigned to a particular group, or include all available servers from any active data source?
  • Will you focus on all servers in a domain or particular systems identified through an entity filter?
  • Will you be including existing guests in this Consolidation Study?
