HP-UX nPar/vPar view

HP Hard Partitions (nPars) are isolated from other HP nPar partitions within the same physical system. Multiple Cells (a unit of processors/memory) make up HP nPar partitions. If a particular HP nPar partition fails due to a hardware failure, then the other HP nPar partitions continue to work, because each HP nPar partition functions in isolation.

This is contrasted with HP Virtual Partitions (vPars). vPars exist within nPars, in which a failure at the hardware level for a nPar would affect all vPars within that nPar.

The HP-UX nPar/vPar view dashboard provides detailed information on HP nPar and vPar hosts, partitions and saturation values in the HP virtualization environment.

To access the HP-UX nPar/vPar view, in the Helix Capacity Optimization Dashboard navigation pane, select Menu_big.png > Capacity > Views > Virtualization > HP-UX > nPar/vPar.

CPU Utilization %

Modify the required values for displaying the threshold values for the CPU utilization in the Maps page of the HP-UX nPar/vPar view:

  • In the Low Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from 0 to value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of blue color.
  • In the Good Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from the value in the Low Threshold box to the value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of green color.
  • In the Warn Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from the value in the Good Threshold box to the value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of yellow color.
The entities with capacity above the value in the Warn Threshold box are displayed in the shades of red color.
