Interfaces Utilization page in the Network View
The Interfaces Utilization page provides an overview of current interface utilizations of network devices in the last 30 days. Interfaces utilization levels are quantized into four set of values (0-25%, 25-50%, 50-75%, 75-100% for average value and 0-50%, 50-75%, 75-95%, 95-100% for max value) and the number of interfaces falling into each set is presented, on a device basis. The same representation is provided both for average utilization values and maximum. Discards and error indicators are also included to quickly highlight interfaces undergoing saturations or other problems. The following figure shows an example of this page.
The Interface Overview Per Device presents the following information.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | Name of the device |
Type | The type of the CO entity |
HW Model | Model of the device |
HW Vendor | Vendor of the device |
Location | Location of the device |
Role | Role of the device, according to the assigned tags |
IF Count | Number of physical interfaces |
IF Busy | Number of physical interfaces currently used |
IF AVG usage 0-25% … 75-100% | Number of interfaces with average utilization falling within the specified set of values |
IF MAX usage 0-50% … 95-100% | Number of interfaces with max utilization falling within the specified set of values |
Count IF with discards | Number of interfaces with discards |
Count IF with errors | Number of interfaces with errors |
As regard the utilization indicators thresholds (AVG, MAX), the following rules apply:
- In columns 0-25, 25-50 for AVG and 0-50, 50-75 for MAX, a good status is presented (green indicator).
- In columns 50-75 for AVG and 75-95 for MAX, if one interface at least is present, a warning status is presented (yellow indicator), otherwise a good status is presented.
- In the columns 75-100 for AVG and 95-100 for MAX if one interface at least is present a critical status is presented (red indicator), otherwise a good status is presented.
As regard the counters of errors and discarded packets, the following rules apply:
- If at least one interface has errors or discarded packets, a critical status is presented (red indicator), otherwise a good status is presented.
