Using Capacity Pools in reservations
Assign or unassign a capacity pool that was created in the Workspace to be used for Reservations. Capacity Pools are a logical aggregation of Reservation Targets based on business rules. Capacity Pool should never be selected by available capacity, and should be driven by the business purpose of the reservation. For example, you can group Reservation Targets into Capacity Pools based on the location.

Selecting Capacity Pools to use for Reservations
Follow the steps given below to select and use a Capacity Pool for Reservations:
Click ➕️Select Capacity Pool to view the Select Capacity Pool screen.
- Expand the domains from the All Capacity Pools list and select the Capacity Pool that you want to use for Reservations.

to add the Capacity Pool to the Reservation Capacity Pools list. Select a Capacity Pool that has already been added and click
to remove a Capacity Pool from the Reservation Capacity Pool list.
- Click Save.
Viewing Capacity Pools
Click Reservations > Capacity Pools to view the Capacity Pools table, which lists all capacity pools that are being used for Reservations.
Viewing the details for a Capacity Pool
Click Reservations > Capacity Pools to view the Capacity Pools table, and select a capacity pool to view details. You can use these details for reviewing the Reservation Targets aggregated to Capacity Pools that have resource consumption issues.
The Type of virtualization technology used by the Capacity Pool and Tags added to the Reservation Target are displayed on top.
Reservation Targets
This section lists the Reservation Targets aggregated in the Capacity Pool.
Onboardings
This sections lists the Onboarding events and allows you to add new Onboarding events to the Capacity Pool.
Committed Reservations
The Committed Reservations section lists the reservations committed for the selected Reservation Target.
Adding an Onboarding event
- Click ➕️ Add Onboarding to add an onboarding event.
- Type a Name and Description for the Onboarding event.
- Select an Onboarding date. The effective date from which the capacity will be onboarded to the Reservation Target OR a hypothetical Reservation Target will be added to a Capacity Pool.
- Select an Offboarding date. The date on which the capacity will be offboarded from the Reservation Target OR the hypothetical Reservation Target will be removed from a Capacity Pool.
- Select the Realization mode to be used for the onboarding event. This value overrides the value specified in the Settings tab.
- Automatic - The onboarding event event will be automatically realized on the selected date.
- Manual - The onboarding event has to be manually realized and expired. You must click Managing-reservations screen, and then click Realize to actuate the onboarding event. After an onboarding event is realized, click Expire to end it. for a Reservation from the
- From Add onboarding resources, select one of the following:
- Use existing templates: Select an existing template from the Onboard resource instances list. Select this option to use the resources instances available in the existing templates, the content depends on the type of Reservation Target. For example, you can plan onboarding of a new host on a cluster or a new hypothetical target inside a pool if your infrastructure is standardized.
Specify custom resources: Click ➕️ Add instance to add instances to the Custom resource instances list. Select this option to specify a custom resource to be onboarded without creating a system template in the Workspace section. For example, you can plan onboarding of additional resources such as Memory on an existing Reservation Target.
You can view and edit the following details:
