BMC Helix Max-Entries-Per-Query Policy

BMC sets a maximum of 2,000 queries for all user-facing servers and a maximum of 50,000 queries for reporting servers as it is sufficient for the majority of BMC Helix customers. If you would like to request for special approval outside of the BMC standard, please open a Support Case and include your justifications, along with use cases clearly defined. The BMC technical team will review and reach out accordingly after evaluating impacts associated with increasing the limit for your BMC Helix subscription.

BMC Helix does not permit a Max-Entries-Per-Query parameter of "0" (zero) to ensure high-performance, data integrity and availability.

The BMC Helix Max-Entries-Per-Query standard is defined based on good industry practice and reasonable limits for efficient data retrievals, reliable server loads, an improved user experience, and performance requirements of the BMC Helix services.

Chunking datasets

Customers can implement chunking to scale and to maintain the performance and useability of your BMC Helix applications. Implementing chunking will reduce complex, large datasets into more manageable loads which improves responsiveness of your queries ensuring improved user experience

Chunking is out-of-the-box with your BMC Helix subscription, including BMC Helix Dashboards, Smart IT, and other reporting functionalities. Any custom written program managed on the customer side should also implement chunking as a best practice.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
