Upgrading the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations on-premises gateway

You can upgrade to version 25.4 of the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations on-premises gateway from the following versions:

  • 25.3.x
  • 25.2.x

Important (Applicable only for the BMC Helix IT Operations Management on-premises users)
Starting with version 25.4, the BMC Helix IT Operations Management (BMC Helix ITOM) on-premises deployment supports deploying the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations services that offer the following capabilities:

  • II Admin role to allow users to manage the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations connectors and configurations, improving security and operational flexibility. In earlier versions, only the tenant administrators can perform these tasks.
  • A proxy service for communication between BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations and the BMC Helix ITOM object storage in high-availability deployments for improved reliability.

When you deploy the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations services during the BMC Helix ITOM on-premises deployment, services only for the listed capabilities are deployed. For information on deploying BMC Helix ITOM, see Deploy BMC Helix IT Operations Management.

To access the full functionality of BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations, you must also upgrade BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations in a standalone environment (referred to as on-premises gateway), as described in the following table.

Use the following topics to upgrade the on-premises gateway on Docker and Podman containers:

Task

Action

Reference

1

Review the release notes for known deployment or product issues.

2

Review the latest deployment use cases to understand whether changes in your system architecture are required.

3

Review system requirements to make sure your current systems still meet the requirements.

4

Download the container images and utility files required for the upgrade.

5

Set up authentication only if the following conditions are satisfied:

  • Both BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations and BMC Helix ITOM are deployed in your on-premises environment.
  • You have deployed BMC Helix ITOM version 25.4 without the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations services, or you are using BMC Helix ITOM version earlier than 25.4.
  • You want to enable authentication for the on-premises gateway.

If you are using BMC Helix ITOM version 25.4 and have deployed the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations services during the BMC Helix ITOM deployment, you don't need to manually set up the authentication.
