  1. Complete the BMC registration process.
You receive an activation email that contains a link to activate your account and the tenant administrator user name.
  2. Click the link and set the tenant administrator password.
The tenant administrator is the first user who logs on to the product. This link for setting the password remains active for 120 hours only, after which it expires.
  3. Log on to BMC Helix Portal by using the tenant administrator user name and product URL received in the activation email.

  4. Important

The email ID specified during registration is used by the BMC SaaS Operations team for all communication. Later, if you want to designate another user as the first user, contact the BMC SaaS Operations team.

If you registered for a free trial, note that it remains active for 14 days only. During the trial, you get unrestricted access to all the capabilities available with the integrated products and common services.

To extend the trial, to reactivate the trial after expiry, or for any other queries, contact BMC Support.

  5. Click the BMC Helix Intelligent Automation tile to launch the console.

2.

Provide consent for data collection.

When you log in for the first time as a tenant administrator, provide your consent for data collection in the Allow data collection for product improvement dialog box. By default, the data collection settings are disabled for a tenant administrator.

To provide your consent for data collection for all the users:

    1. To enable data collection for performance and product improvement, select Enable data collection for performance and product improvement.
    2. To enable data collection for marketing and outreach, select Enable data collection for marketing and outreach.

      Tip

      • To understand the types of data that are collected, expand Click for examples of the types of data we collect for performance and product improvement.
      •  To understand the ways in which the collected data is used, expand Click for examples of ways data may be used for marketing and outreach.
    3. (Optional) To enable data collection for your account, select Turn on data collection for my account for either performance and product improvement or for marketing and outreach or for both.
    4. Click Agree and submit
You can modify your consent for data collection at any time.
Consent at user level

If the tenant administrator has consented to data collection, the user will receive a notification.

Users can modify their consent for data collection at any time. For more information, see Viewing and modifying your profile information.

3.

Set up users and user groups, and assign specific roles to them.

User management functions are performed in BMC Helix Portal. The Automation Engineer and Automation Developer roles are available out-of-the-box.

4.

Connect with BMC or third-party automation tools.

Configure the out-of-the-box cloud or on-premises connectors to connect with automation tools. After a successful configuration, as an automation engineer, you can create automation policies to remediate events and situations generated in BMC Helix Operations Management or BMC Helix AIOps.

5.

Configure the Proactive Service Resolution solution.

The solution automatically creates incidents or trouble tickets in the supported IT Service Management or trouble ticket management system for infrastructure events generated in  BMC Helix Operations Management or BMC Helix AIOps.

If using BMC Helix ITSM, as an automation engineer, you can enable incident noise reduction to create a single incident for an BMC Helix AIOps situation and its events.

6.

Configure the Blackout Policy solution.

The solution automatically creates blackout policies in BMC Helix Operations Management based on change requests created in BMC Helix ITSM.
