Editing, disabling, and deleting plugin keys

Plugin keys are needed while configuring on-premises connectors in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.

When you create a plugin key, a creds.json file is generated, which is used to create credentials while configuring any on-premises connectors. You can also test a key to ensure that it is running successfully. You can reuse plugin keys for multiple connectors. By default, a plugin key expires in 90 days but you can extend the expiry date anytime.

To edit a plugin key

Once created, you can only update a plugin key's name and expiry date. 

  1. Click Connectors > Plugin Keys to view all plugin keys created in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.
  2. Select Actions > Edit against a key that you want to edit. 
  3. To extend the expiry date for the plugin key, in the Key Expiry field, click the Calendar icon.pngcalendar icon and select a new date. 
  4. To update the plugin name, enter a new name in the Plugin Name field.
  5. Click Update. 
    The plugin key is updated successfully. 


To disable or enable a plugin key

Important

Before disabling a plugin key, learn about the impact: 

  • Connectors that are using the plugin key get disabled. 
  • Published automation policies that use the connector go into a Disabled state.
  • Policies in a draft state are not disabled, but cannot be published. 
  • Even if one action in a policy uses the disabled connector, the policy is disabled. 
  1. Click Connectors > Plugin Keys to view all plugin keys created in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.
  2. Select Actions > Disable against a key that you want to disable.
    The plugin key is disabled successfully. 
  3. Select Actions > Enable against a key that you want to disable.
    The plugin key is enabled successfully. 


To delete a plugin key

If you delete a plugin key, connectors that are using the key stop running. 

  1. Click Connectors > Plugin Keys to view all plugin keys created in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.
  2. Select Actions > Delete against a key that you want to delete.
