Viewing, editing, and copying automation policies


As automation engineers or developers, you view the automation policies on the Policies page.

To view automation policies

Click Policies and view the following information about policies: 

  • Policy Name
  • Execution Mode: Displays whether a policy will trigger manually or automatically based on the incoming events. 
  • Status: Draft, Published, Disabled (only if the connector used in the policy is disabled).
  • Last Updated: Displays the date, time, and user last updated the policy.
  • Actions: The following table describes the actions available for each policy status:

To search for an automation policy

Type the policy name (minimum 4 characters) in the search box for a basic search. Search results appear as soon as you type 4 characters. 

For an advanced search, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Advanced filter and do one of the following options: 
    • From the available filters, select a filter and its options:
      • Status
      • Execution Mode
      • Updated by
    • Type the filter name in the text field, or to build a search expression, type the filter name and select the option from the list of available options. 
      For example, if you start typing Status, the options Status:PublishedStatus:Draft, and Status:Disabled appear.

  2. Click Apply Filters to view policies based on the selected filters. 

To edit an automation policy

You can edit policies that are in a Draft or Published state. 

  1. In the BMC Helix Intelligent Automation console, navigate to Policies.
  2. Search for the policy you want to edit, and click Actions > Edit.
  3. Make changes to the policy based on your requirements and click Save.
    If you edit a published policy, it is unavailable for a few seconds until it is saved. It might not be triggered against incoming events that match the policy until it's republished automatically.

To copy an automation policy

You can copy policies that are in a Published or Draft state only. 

  1. In the BMC Helix Intelligent Automation console, navigate to Policies.
  2. Search for the policy you want to copy, and click Actions > Copy.
  3. Type a new policy name, update any other field if required, and click Save.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
