This documentation supports releases of BMC Helix Intelligent Automation up to December 31, 2021. To view the latest version, select version 23.1 from the Product version menu.

Configuring the Generic REST API cloud connector

You configure the connector and the actions supported by the connector are displayed while creating a policy. When BMC Helix Intelligent Automation receives an event from BMC Helix AIOps or BMC Helix Operations Management, the policy that matches the trigger condition is run.

BMC Helix Intelligent Automation supports both on-premises and cloud deployments, however, you must configure a separate connector for both the deployments.

To configure the Generic REST API connector for a cloud application

  1. In the BMC Helix Intelligent Automation console, click Connectors > Available Connectors
  2. Click Configure against the Generic REST API connector.
  3. Enter a unique name for the connector.
  4. Enter the endpoint URL for the application.
  5. Select the authentication type from the list and provide the details.
    • Basic: Enter username and password for the application.
    • Bearer: Enter the bearer token generated from the application.
  6. Click Save.
The connector is saved and appears under the Configured Connectors tab. The REST API connector performs real-time connection when an action in a policy is invoked, hence, the status appears as NA.

Where to go from here

Now that the connector is configured successfully, you can create policies to execute actions in the target applications. For an example of adding actions to a policy, see Running-a-Jenkins-job
