Examples of reports


This section provides the following examples that you can use to create your own reports:


The Availability Summary report

This report provides information about the availability of the devices or instances that you select.

To create the report

  1. Log in to TrueSight Smart Reporting.
  2. Click tsr_create_report.png and click Report.
  3. Select the Device Metrics & Events view.
  4. Use the Data tab to configure the look and feel for your report. For example, you can configure the fields to be displayed or the filters to use.
  5. Drag and drop the required fields to the Columns field. Data for the values in these fields is shown after the report is generated.
    For example, use fields from the folders as given below:

  6. Drag and drop the required fields in the Filters section.

    Tip

    For each filter field, you can configure the filters with a list of values such as contains or between. To do this:

    1. Click the Filter field and then click Advanced setting.
    2. Select the required attribute values.
    3. Select the required availability attribute from the filter.
  7. Calculate the availability measure. Do the following:
    1. For the calculated field, click add_icon.pngon the bottom left.
    2. Enter Availability as the field name.
    3. From the Formula Type list, select Simple.
    4. Use the formula buttons and the drop down list to add components to your calculation for hourly data. The following formula is used to calculate hourly data:

      (Hour Count Value - Hour Sum Value) / Hour Count Value

      Important

      The hourly count and sum value is calculated from the stat raw data, where 0 is Available, and 1 is Unavailable. Verify the unit of the attribute before calculating the availability measure.

    5. Click Validate to verify the calculation.
    6. Click Save.

      Success

      Tip

      To view the calculation, do the following:

      1. Go to the Data page.
      2. At the bottom of the Field list, view the calculation in a Calculated fields folder.
  8.  From the Calculated Fields folder, drag and drop the Availability field to the Columns field.
  9. (Optional) If you want to see the value in percentage, convert the Availability field to percentage. Do the following:
    1. Click Availability >Format > Edit.
    2. Change the format to Percentage.
  10. Click Charts to select a chart type for the output of your report.
  11. Click Publish.
  12. In the Save Report window, do the following:
    1. Enter a name and description for your report.
    2. In the Report Access area, select Public or Private.
       If you select Public, all users on the tenant can access the report.
       If you select Private, you can see the User Access tab. Use this tab to specify the users who will have access to the report.
    3. Click Save to generate and view the report.


The Aggregate Performance report

This report provides information about the aggregated values of the attributes for the instances that you select.

To create the report

  1. Log in to TrueSight Smart Reporting.
  2. Click tsr_create_report.png and click Report.
  3. Select the Device Metrics & Events view.
  4. Use the Data tab to configure the look and feel for your report. For example, you can configure the fields to be displayed or the filters to use.
  5. Drag and drop the required fields to the Columns field. Data for the values in these fields is shown after the report is generated.
    For example:
    • The Group Name field from the Device Group folder
    • The Device Name filed from the Device folder
    • The Monitor Instance field from the Monitor Type folder
    • The Attribute Name field from the Attribute folder
    • The Hour field for hourly calculation from the Performance folder
  6. Drag and drop the required fields in the Filters section.
    For example:
    • The Device Name filed from the Device folder
    • The Attribute Name field from the Attribute folder
    • The Hour field for dates with hours from the Performance folder

      Success

      Tip

      For each filter field, you can configure the filters with a list of values such as contains or between. To do this:

      1. Click the Filter field and then click Advanced setting.
      2. Select the required attribute values.
  7.  From the Performance folder, drag and drop the required measures from daily and hourly values such as Average Value, Max Value, Min Value, and Sum Value.
    Use the daily or hourly data frequency for the attributes.
  8. (Optional) Apply advanced functions on an attribute. Do the following:
    1. Click the arrow against an attribute or a measure and click Advanced Function.
    2. In the Advanced Metrics window, use the Select Function list to select one of the following functions:
      • Analysis
      • Statistical
      • Text
    3. From the available list, select a parameter. The parameters change according to the function that you selected.
      In the right column, you can see the parameters that you selected.
      For example:
      • In the Analysis function, select the Percentage Against Maximum, Percentage Of Initial Value, and Percentage of Total parameters.
      • In the Statistical function, select the Mean, Median, or Standard Deviation parameters.
    4. Click Save.
  9. If applicable, click Charts to select a chart type for the output of your report.
  10. Click Publish.
  11. In the Save Report window, do the following:
    1. Enter a name and description for your report.
    2. In the Report Access area, select Public or Private.
       If you select Public, all users on the tenant can access the report.
       If you select Private, you can see the User Access tab. Use this tab to specify the users who will have access to the report.
    3. Click Save to generate and view the report.


The Health Summary report

The health summary report allow user to select device, instance, attribute and threshold attributes to analyze peak, average and out of threshold values.

This section provides the following example reports:

  • Detailed line graph report
  • Summary report

This section also provides information about displaying both reports in a single report master.

To create a detailed line graph report:

  1. Log in to TrueSight Smart Reporting.
  2. Click tsr_create_report.png and click Report.
  3. Select the Device Metrics & Events view.
  4. Use the Data tab to configure the look and feel for your report. For example, you can configure the fields to be displayed or the filters to use.
  5. Drag and drop the required fields to the Columns field. Data for the values in these fields is shown after the report is generated.
    For example use the fields from folders as given below:

  6. Select threshold attributes from the threshold folders.
    These types of threshold are available: Absolute Global, Absolute Instance, Signature Global, and Signature Instance.
    For example, use the following attributes with the Absolute Instance threshold:

  7. Drag and drop the required fields in the Filters section.
    For example:

  8. Drag and drop the required fields in the section block for a section-wise report.
    For example:

  9. From the Performance folder, drag and drop the Raw-Value measure. This measure is the stats data that is collected by the TrueSight Infrastructure Management server based on the pulling cycle.
  10. Click Charts and select Line Chart.
  11. From the Dimension folder, drag and drop the Timestamp field to the horizontal axis (X axis) on the line chart.
  12. From the Metrics folder, drag and drop Threshold and Raw-value to the vertical axis (Y axis) on the line chart.
  13. (Optional) To hide the data table in the report, go to the Design tab and click the Table On/Off icon table_on_off_icon.pngat the top.
  14. Click Publish.
  15. In the Save Report window, do the following:
    1. Enter a name and description for your report.
    2. In the Report Access area, select Public or Private.
       If you select Public, all users on the tenant can access the report.
       If you select Private, you can see the User Access tab. Use this tab to specify the users who will have access to the report
    3. Click Save to generate and view the report.

To create a summary report:

  1. Log in to TrueSight Smart Reporting.
  2. Click tsr_create_report.png and click Report.
  3. Select the Device Metrics & Events view.
  4. Use the Data tab to configure the look and feel for your report. For example, you can configure the fields to be displayed or the filters to use.
  5. Drag and drop the required fields to the Columns field. Data for the values in these fields is shown after the report is generated.
    For example use the fields from folders as given below:

  6. Select threshold attributes from the threshold folders.
    These types of threshold are available: Absolute Global, Absolute Instance, Signature Global, and Signature Instance.
    For example, use the following attributes with the Absolute Instance threshold:

  7. Drag and drop the required fields in the Filters section.
    For example:

  8. Drag and drop the required fields in the section block for a section-wise report.
    For example:

  9. Use the Raw-value measure to calculate the peak and average values. This measure is the stats data that is collected by the TrueSight Infrastructure Management server based on the pulling cycle. Do the following to build the peak and average measure one by one:
    1. Click the bottom left for the Calculated field.
    2. For the field name, enter Peak/Average.
    3. Select the Simple formula type.
    4. Use the formula buttons and the field drop-down lists to add components to your calculation based on the following formulas:
      • Formula for calculating peak: MAX (Raw-Value)
      • Formula for calculating average: AVG (Raw-Value)
        The % Formula button is for the average function.
    5. Click Validate to ensure that the calculation is not missing any component.
    6. Click Save. The Peak/Average measure is available in the Calculated Fields folder on the Data page.

      Warning

      Note: Limited availability for the stats data

      Stats data is available only for the last 7 days in the Reporting database.

  10. From the Calculated Fields folder, drag and drop the Peak and Average field in the Columns field.
  11. Link the detailed line graph report to this report. Do the following:
    1. Under Analysis Style, click the Co-display option. The Related Content option appears.
    2. Click the Related Content option and search for the detailed line graph report.
    3. Drag the report into one of the following options: Tabbed, Top, Right, or Bottom.
    4. Join the summary report with detail report by using the Link on > Filters option.
      Ensure that you select the correct master and child filters between the reports.
    5. Click Update to save the filters.
  12. Click Publish. In the Save Report window, do the following:
    1. Enter a name and description for your report.
    2. In the Report Access area, select Public or Private.
       If you select Public, all users on the tenant can access the report.
       If you select Private, you can see the User Access tab. Use this tab to specify the users who will have access to the report
    3. Click Save to generate and view the report.
