Process of creating a dashboard by using Insight Finder

You add your requirement as a prompt to Insight Finder. Based on the input, it generates a visualization and also suggests follow-up prompts that are aligned with the input. These prompts help you uncover broader insights for data analysis. You can also add prompts to customize the visualization, such as:

  • Specify the type of visualization to be used
  • Sort columns when the result is displayed in a table
  • Add, rename, or remove columns
If you add new columns, existing ones might be removed. To keep them, mention them explicitly.
Example: "Add Company and Site, and keep the existing columns."

The following flow chart explains the process of creating a dashboard by using Insight Finder:

To create a dashboard

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Portal, and open BMC Helix Dashboards.
  2. Click Insight Finder icon.

  3. In the chat window, add your query as a prompt.

Insight Finder analyzes the prompt and generates the appropriate visualization accordingly.
For a few example prompts, see Sample prompts for Insight Finder.
  4. To update the visualization, add another relevant prompt in the chat window.
Insight Finder updates the visualization accordingly. It remembers the context of the previous query that you added in the prompt. You can tweak the query and provide additional conditions, such as a specific sort order or a different visualization.

    Important
Maintain the context of the original prompt; for instance, if it is about incident management, subsequent prompts should not be about problem or change management.

  5. To add another visualization, perform one of these steps:
    1. Click New topic and specify another prompt.
