Use the Discovery Dashboard to visualize and monitor the usage of the BMC Helix Discovery Iicenses. With these insights, optimize the license usage and determine whether you need any additional BMC Helix Discovery licenses.

Scenario
Mike is a system administrator at Apex Global. He wants to track the license usage of BMC Helix Discovery products.

He reviews the license usage on the Discovery Dashboard and realizes that usage for one of the BMC Helix Discovery cloud instances is nearing 100 percent. He shares this analysis with the BMC Helix Discovery team. Based on this analysis, the team decides to purchase additional licenses of BMC Helix Discovery.

To view the dashboard

  1. From the navigation menu, click Dashboards.
  2. Search for the License Usage Dashboards folder and select it.
  3. Click Discovery Dashboard.

    View the Discovery Dashboard to analyze the usage of the selected Discovery license.

Reviewing the usage of the BMC Helix Discovery license

The dashboard provides the following information:

  • The pie chart shows the percentage of used and remaining licenses.
  • The bar chart shows the monthly license usage of BMC Helix Discovery.
    • Analyze the chart to see whether the license usage is within the expected range.
    • Hover over a bar to view the percentage license usage, the purchased license count, and the total count of used license for the month.
  • The table shows the following information about the selected license:
    • Total purchased license count
    • Monthly license usage count and percentage
    • Monthly count of cloud instances and hosts where the license is used
