OTel Trace Stats dashboard

  

Use the OTel Trace Stats dashboard to visualize and analyze the trace statistics of a specific business service and associated namespace. This dashboard helps you to visualise aggregated metrics like the count of spans and associated service namespaces and services that are responsible for generating spans.

Important

The dashboard is available only if the BMC Helix OpenTelemetry service is enabled for your tenant. To enable this service, contact BMC Helix Support.

OTel-Trace-Details-dashboard

The dashboard provides the following information about the constituent services of an instrumented application:

  • Span count for a specified time
  • Spans per namespace
  • Spans per Service name

To view the dashboard

  1. From the navigation menu menu_icon.png, click Dashboards.
  2. Search for the Helix OpenTelemetry Dashboards folder and select it.
  3. Click OTel Trace Stats.
    The dashboard is displayed.

Tip: Quick access from the Home page

To quickly open the dashboard from the Home page, mark it as a favorite by using the star icon. Additionally, after you open a dashboard, it is available under Recently viewed dashboards on the Home page.

Panels in the OTel Trace Stats dashboard

The dashboard contains the following panels:

Panel

Description

Spans Count

Displays the total count of spans for a specified time.

Spans Per Namespace

Displays the number of spans for each namespace.

Spans Per Service Name

Displays the list of service namespaces, associated service names, and each service's span count.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
