OTel Trace Search dashboard
Use the OTel Trace Search dashboard to search for specific traces by specifying a status, attribute name, and attribute value. You can analyze these traces to identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and errors.
The dashboard provides the following information about traces:
- Segment count by type
- Average rate
- Rate trend
- Largest latency
- Shortest latency
- Latency trend baseline
- Total errors
- Error percentage
- Error trend
To view the dashboard
- From the navigation menu, click Dashboards.
- Search for the Helix OpenTelemetry Dashboards folder and doble-click it.
- Click OTel Trace Search.
The dashboard is displayed.
- Search for the required traces by specifying a search criteria in the following filters:
Otel Namespace, Otel Service, Status, Attribute Name, Attribute Value
Panels in the OTel Trace Search dashboard
Panel | Description |
Number Trace Matches | Displays the count of traces that match the specified search criteria. |
Number Span Matches | Displays the number of spans in the traces. |
Traces By Attribute Value | Displays the count of traces for the specified attribute value. |
RED Metrics for all traces with the selected attribute | Displays the Request, Error, and Duration (RED) metrics for traces that provide insights into the application performance and identify issues, such as request rates, errors, or slow operations. |
Traces (Limit 1000) | Displays all the traces fetched for the specified search criteria. Click a trace to view its details in the Trace Details panel. |
Trace Details | Displays the details of the trace selected in the Traces (Limit 1000) panel. For information about trace details, see OTel Trace Details dashboard. |
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
