Changes by Assets dashboard

As an asset manager, view the metrics of the change requests associated with various assets (CIs) in your organization on the Changes by Assets dashboard. Use these metrics to efficiently track, monitor, and manage the changes to minimize downtime and maintain service availability.

For example, you can view the number and type of assets that are affected by the change requests. You can also view the change requests that are associated with each asset.

Identify assets that are most affected by change requests

Garth, an asset manager, wants to know the assets that are most affected because of change requests.

He uses this dashboard to view the change requests associated with each asset in his organization and identifies the most affected assets. He prioritizes the assets and change requests and plans and schedules the changes to minimize downtime and maintain service availability. 

To view the Changes by Assets dashboard

  1. From the navigation menu menu_icon.png, click Dashboards.
  2. Click the Helix ITSM folder and then click Changes by Assets.

Tip

To quickly open the dashboard from the Home page, mark the dashboard as a favorite by using the star icon. Additionally, after you open a dashboard, it is available under Recently viewed dashboards on the Home page.

Panels in the Changes by Assets dashboard

The following table describes the panels in the Changes by Assets dashboard:

Select a time range to display data of that time interval in the dashboard.

By default, the dashboard displays data for the last 30 days.

Top Assets Assigned Changes

Displays a bar chart representing the number of change requests associated with each asset.

Total Changes to Asset Relationships

Displays the total number of change requests associated with the assets.

Total Assets with a Change

Displays the total number of assets that have associated change requests.

Change Breakdown By Asset Class

Displays a pie chart representing the percentage of change requests per asset class.

Count of Changes per Asset

Displays the following information:

  • Reconciliation ID: Unique reconciliation identifier of the asset.
  • CI Class: The CI class of the asset.
  • CI Name: The name of the asset.
  • Count of Change Request: The number of change requests associated with the asset.
    To view the list of these change requests, click the number.
    The All Changes of Selected Asset <asset name> panel displays the list of these change requests.
  • Record Type: The record type, that is, Configuration Item, of the asset.

All Changes of Selected Asset <asset name>

Displays the list of change requests based on the change request count you click in Count of Change Request in the Count of Changes per Asset panel.

The following are the columns:

  • Submit Date: Displays the date and time at which the change request is submitted.
  • CI Name: Displays the name of the asset associated with the change request.
  • Change Request ID: Displays the change request ID.
    Click the change request ID to view the change request summary in the Printable Change Details report. 
    Click the change request ID in the Printable Change Details report to open the change request in BMC Helix ITSM.
  • Change Request Description: Displays the description of the change request.
